ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The No. 12 Navy women's lacrosse team (9-2, 4-0 Patriot League) heads to Baltimore for a first-place matchup with No. 11 Loyola (8-3, 4-0 PL) on Saturday, April 6, at 3:00 p.m. at the Ridley Athletic Complex. All-Time Series
The game between Navy and Loyola will mark the 11th meeting between the two programs. The Greyhounds hold a 7-3 (.700) advantage in the all-time series, however, the Mids are 3-2 (.600) against Loyola in the postseason.
Last season, the two squads met three times, with Loyola taking the regular-season meeting, 16-12, in Annapolis. Navy was then victorious in the Patriot League Championship game, 17-10, before knocking the Greyhounds out of the NCAA Tournament with a 19-15 win in the second round at Ridley Athletic Complex.
Navy picked up its first victory over Loyola in 2017 as the Midshipmen snapped the Greyhounds' 41-game winning streak over Patriot League opponents.
Despite Navy's three victories over Loyola in the postseason, the Greyhounds are 47-0 against Patriot League opponents during the regular season.
Larkin Named Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-American
Navy women's lacrosse junior
Kelly Larkin (Alexandria, Va.) was named Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-American as announced by the publication on Thursday, April 4. Larkin was selected to the third team.
This season, Larkin leads the team with 68 points on a team-high 38 goals and team-best 30 assists. In addition, she has 14 ground balls and five caused turnovers. The Alexandria, Va. native has scored at least one point in all 56 games of her career, including scoring at least one goal in 29 consecutive games. Larkin has recorded eight hat tricks this season and 32 for her career.
Scouting the Midshipmen
This season,
Kelly Larkin (Alexandria, Va.) leads the team with 68 points, scoring team-best 38 goals and boasting a team-high 30 assists.
Kayla Harris (Annapolis, Md.) is second with 32 points (24g 8a), ahead of
Andie O'Sullivan (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) and
Annalise Heyward (Charlotte, N.C.) who have 31 points (25g 6a) and 30 points (18g 12a), respectively.
Reagan Roelofs (Apple Valley, Minn.) has also eclipsed 20 points, netting 20 goals with five assists for 25 points.
Marina Lazarides (Westminster, Md.) and
Nicole Victory (Issaquah, Wash.) are tied with 16 points with Lazarides notching nine goals and seven assists and Victory tallying six goals and 10 helpers.
Roelofs leads the team with 58 total draws, while Heyward is second with 48. Harris is third with 35, and O'Sullivan rounds out the double-digit draws with 22. Heyward,
Marie Valenti (Bechtelsville, Pa.), and O'Sullivan pace the team in caused turnovers. Heyward leads the team with 17, while Valenti is second with 15. O'Sullivan rounds out the double-digit CTs with 10.
Defensively, goalie
Gab Harchelroad (Pittsburgh, Pa.) has logged just under 530 of the 660 minutes between the pipes for the Midshipmen. This season, she is 8-2, including a victory over a ranked opponent. The senior has made 59 stops and is second on the team with 27 ground balls, while adding nine caused turnovers. Valenti paces the team with 30 ground balls.
Scouting the Opponent
Livy Rosenzweig, coming off a school-record 102 point freshman season, leads Loyola with 53 points on a team-best 27 goals and 26 assists. Rosenzweig has already recorded 5-or-more points through six games, including an 8-point outing (4g, 4a) at No. 4 Syracuse, a 7-point performance (4g, 3a) at No. 25 Towson and an 8-point game (4g, 4a) against Boston.
Hannah Powers put together a team-best 10-point performance by dishing out seven assists to go with three goals against Boston. She's second on the team with 25 goals, 21 assists and 46 points this year and has a team-best 46-game point streak.
Loyola's midfield unit of Sam Fiedler (25g, 9a), Jillian Wilson (18g, 6a), Taylor VanThof (15g, 6a) and Elli Kluegel (17g, 3a) have combined for 99 of Loyola's 244 points this year.
Defensively, Lindsey Ehrhardt has 25 ground balls and 23 caused turnover, while Kristen Yanchoris has 11 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers, and Katie Detwiler has 15 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers.
In goal, Kady Glynn has posted six double-digit save performances to get the Greyhounds four wins over top-10 foes. So far this season, Glynn has a 10.40 goals-against average and .495 save percentage.
Last Time vs. Loyola (May 13, 2018)
The No. 7 Navy women's lacrosse team posted a 19-15 victory over No. 10 Loyola at the Ridley Athletic Complex to advance to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals for the second consecutive year.
Navy scored 19 goals on 34 shots on the day, marking the most points a Patriot League team has ever scored on Loyola since the team joined the conference in 2014.
Kelly Larkin (Alexandria, Va.) led the way with seven points on the day, while
Jenna Collins (Clarksville, Md.) followed with six.
Jenna Collins led the way with five goals, while adding an assist and Larkin posted a team-high four helpers, chipping in three goals.
Julia Collins (Clarksville, Md.) and
Kayla Harris (Annapolis, Md.) each added four goals apiece. For Harris, the four goals tied a career high, which the sophomore set in the second round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament against UMass.
Defensively,
Ingrid Boyum (Herndon, Va.) picked up her 17th win of the season. Navy's all-time saves leader recorded seven saves on the day en route to the victory. In addition, Boyum picked up team-best four ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers.
Marie Valenti (Bechtelsville, Pa.) joined Boyum with two caused turnovers as the Mids finished the day causing seven of the Greyhounds' 13 turnovers.
Sarah Childress (Annapolis, Md.),
Andie O'Sullivan (Valley Cottage, N.Y.), and
Blake Smith (Sykesville, Md.) each chipped in a pair of ground balls.
Annalise Heyward (Charlotte, N.C.) paced the team with five of the Mids' 17 draws in the game. She was joined by
Jenna Collins and O'Sullivan who finished the game with four apiece.
Last Time Out
The No. 13 Navy women's lacrosse team posted a 22-6 victory over Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The Midshipmen scored over 20 goals for the second consecutive game, while holding their opponents to single-digit goals for the fourth straight game.
The Midshipmen saw nine athletes combine to score 22 goals on the day, including seven players who notched multiple goals. Four people –
Caitlin Blanche (Crofton, Md.),
Kayla Harris (Annapolis, Md.),
Kelly Larkin (Alexandria, Va.), and
Reagan Roelofs (Apple Valley, Minn.) – all registered hat tricks in the game. Harris and Roelofs led the way with four goals apiece, while Blanche and Larkin each chipped in three goals. Larkin added four assists to join
Nicole Victory (Issaquah, Wash.) for a team-best seven points on the day. Victory finished with a pair of goals and a career-best and game high five assists.
Roelofs led the team with 10 draw controls, marking the second time the freshman has won double-digit draws in a game. Navy picked up 21 ground balls with 16 different people picking up at least one GB.
Defensively, the Mids tallied six saves as a team, limiting the Crusaders' offense to just six goals on 20 shots.
Gab Harchelroad (Pittsburgh, Pa.) earned the win, working the first half at goal for Navy. The senior notched five saves on the day, while surrendering three goals in 30 minutes of action.
Abbi Young (Alamo, Calif.),
Lindsey Ellison (Arlington, Va.), and
Maddy Bell (Winter Park, Fla.) combined to work the final 30 minutes between the posts for Navy, allowing three goals and notching a save.
The Navy defense caused 11 of Holy Cross' 19 turnovers.

Annalise Heyward (Charlotte, N.C.) and O'Sullivan chipped in two CTs apiece. The defense also helped facilitate the offensive attack, as Navy converted a season-best 19-of-20 clear attempts on the day.
