Wade Selected for USILA Senior All-Star Game

BALTIMORE, Md. —  Navy senior lacrosse co-captain Ryan Wade (Coronado, Calif.) has been selected to play in the 2019  United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Senior All-Star Game slated for Friday evening in Sparks, Md.

Wade will join forces with former Patriot League foes Jarrett Witzal of Bucknell, Connar Dehnart of Lafayette, Lucas Spence and Mickey Fitzpatrick of Lehigh and John Duffy and Jacob Stover of Loyola as representatives of the South team in what was previously named the USILA North-South Game. The Div. I/II Senior All-Star Game begins at 7:30 pm at Tierney Field at the US Lacrosse Headquarters and follows the Div. III game which kicks off at 5:00 pm.

A two-time All-Patriot League honoree, Wade was selected to the first team this spring after garnering second-team recognition a year ago. He paced the Mids with a career-best 48 points on 20 goals and 28 assists this season and was the league's second-leading point producer (3.67 PPG) out of the midfield behind Loyola's Chase Scanlan. Wade is one of just four midfielders in school history to score 40 or more points in a season and the first in 30 years. His 48 points are the third most by a midfielder all-time behind Glen Miles' 53 in 1986 and Brian Keith's 53 in 1989. Wade is one of only two midfielders in school history to score 20 goals and deal out 20 assists in the same season, joining 1986 MacLaughlin Award winner Glen Miles.

Wade ended the season with the nation's 10th-longest point-scoring streak with a goal or an assist in each of the last 37 contests and dealt out an assist in each of the last 34 games. He became the 35th player in program history to score 100 career points and the 10th midfielder to achieve the feat. He amassed 119 points over three-plus seasons (2 games as a freshman), finishing 21st all-time on Navy's scoring leader board and fourth among midfielders. Additionally, he finished eighth on the Navy all-time assists list with 77 and is one of nine players in school history with 70 or more assists. The 77 assists are the most by a Navy player since Jon Birsner dealt out 105 from 2003-06. Remarkably, Wade was held without a point (goal or assist) in just three games during the 43 games in which he played over his career.

Before stepping on the playing field a final time, Wade will be commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy when he graduates Friday morning with a degree in Political Science. He will serve as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard the USS Gettysburg (CG 64) based out of Norfolk, Va.
