ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy women's lacrosse team was ranked No. 15 according to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division I Preseason Top 25, as announced on Monday afternoon.
The ranking marks the third consecutive season that the Midshipmen have been ranked in the IWLCA Division I Preseason Poll. The Mids concluded the 2019 season ranked No. 16 according to the IWLCA. Navy is slated to play six teams (No. 1 Maryland, No. 8 Virginia, No. 11 Loyola, No. 14 Florida, No. 19 Georgetown, and No. 21 Duke) during the 2020 season ranked in the IWLCA preseason poll.
Last season, Navy finished the season 16-5 overall and 8-1 in the Patriot League. The Midshipmen advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season, earning their first at-large bid in program history.
Navy opens the 2020 season on Saturday, Feb. 8 against No. 8 Virginia at noon at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
