24th-Ranked Midshipmen Meet Cleveland State Saturday in Annapolis

Navy Notes
• Inside the Match: After a 13-day layoff, the 24th-ranked Navy wrestling team (2-1, 1-0 EIWA) returns to action when it plays host to Cleveland State (0-1, 0-0 Mid-American) on Saturday evening (5:00 pm). The dual is closed to fans due to ongoing public health guidelines in the state of Maryland. A series that dates back to 1977, the two programs have previously met four times. However, it's been a quarter of a century since they last met as Navy scored a 23-9 victory over the Vikings on Jan. 13, 1996, in Cleveland.
• Follow the Action: The Navy-Cleveland State match will be streamed online via ESPN+ with Pete Medhurst on the call. Fans can either subscribe to ESPN+ for $5.99 per month or $59.99 per year, while a subscription to the Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+ bundle is available for $12.99 per month.
• The subscription allows you not only to stream on your computer, but also on the following devices: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Fire TV, Fire Tablet, Android Phone, Android TV, Android Tablet, Roku, Samsung Smart TV, Chromecast, Playstation 4, Xbox One and Oculus Go.
• Format: Navy and Cleveland State are scheduled to wrestle a traditional 10-bout, team-scored dual while the two programs will also wrestle extra matches that will count towards an individual's season record. Simultaneous to the dual, the Navy and Cleveland State "2's" will wrestle on a second mat. At the conclusion of the dual, two mats will again be utilized with matches featuring Navy "1's" vs. Cleveland State "2's" and Cleveland State "1's" vs. "Navy "2's."
• More on the Vikings: Led by third-year head coach Josh Moore, Cleveland State opened its season on Jan. 16 against Kent State. The two teams squared off utilizing a round-robin format that featured 35 total bouts.  Meanwhile, last Saturday West Virginia won six of the 10 bouts to edge Cleveland State 18-15. The Vikings held a 15-13 advantage with two bouts to go, but back-to-back decisions by the Mountaineers sealed the victory (WVU lost a point due to unsportsmanlike conduct). CSU's Logan Heil (133), Marcus Robinson (149), Daniel Patten (157) and DeAndre Nassar earned wins in the dual, while Patten put bonus points on the board for the Vikings with his pin over Alex Hornfeck in just under five minutes. Logan Heil (125), Riley Smucker (165) and DeAndre Nassar (184) all placed at the MAC Championship as freshmen last season, while redshirt senior Justin Patrick (133), junior Ben Smith (197) and redshirt junior John Kelbly (285) were also MAC place winners. There are 13 newcomers on the Vikings roster this season, including 10 true freshmen. Among those true freshmen are starters Jake Manley (125) and Daniel Patten (157).
