ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– Men's basketball player Cam Davis (Sr., Battlefield, Mo.) has been selected as the Naval Academy Athletic Association's (NAAA) Athlete of the Week, presented by Northrop Grumman.  This is third time this season Davis has earned the accolade.
 
Davis averaged 22.0 points per game during Navy's Patriot League season-opening weekend against Bucknell.  He first posted 26 points in the team's 78-69 victory over the Bison Saturday in Alumni Hall.  Davis totaled 15 of his points during Navy's 35-9 game-closing run that boosted the Mids past Bucknell.  The 17-point (60-43) deficit Navy overcame in the last 12:40 of the game was the third-largest rally for a victory in program history and was the largest rally for a win by the Mids in a Patriot League regular season game.
 
Davis then scored 18 points in Navy's 63-60 win Sunday in Lewisburg, Pa.  Included among his efforts in the game were his draining a jumper with 5.4 seconds remaining to put the Mids in front, 61-60, then sinking a pair of free throws with seven-tenths of a second left to close out the scoring.
 
He shot 51.9 percent from the field, was 14-16 from the free throw line and dished out a team-best six assists on the weekend that improved Navy's overall record on the year to 5-1 for the second time since the start of the 21^st century (2008-09).
 
Navy will face Lehigh in a pair of league games this weekend.  The Mids and the Mountain Hawks will play Saturday at 2 p.m., in Bethlehem, Pa., and Sunday at 3 p.m. in Annapolis.
