Track and Field Claims Trio of Weekly Awards

Clayton Thompson (Track), Molly Mangan (Track), and Walker Rudisaile (Rookie) each earned Patriot League honors.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy track and Field team had three student-athletes claim weekly accolades for their performance in the Army-Navy Indoor Star Meet, which is part of the overall star series presented by USAA. Clayton Thompson (Corpus Christi, Texas) repeated as Patriot League Men's Track Athlete of the Week, while Molly Mangan (Pittsburgh, Pa.) claimed the PL Women's Track Athlete of the Week. Freshman Walker Rudisaile (Marion, Texas) took home PL Men's Rookie of the Week honors.
 
Last weekend, the Navy men defeated Army, 101-80, on the road for the first win in West Point since 2015, while the Navy women earned a 98-83 victory over Army, marking the first indoor star victory in West Point since 2013.
 
Navy returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 27, as the Midshipmen host the Patriot League Indoor Challenge at Wesley A. Brown Field House.
 
Patriot League Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Clayton Thompson / Hurdles/Multis / Sr. / 6-0 / Corpus Christi, Texas / Flour Bluff
- Broke his Navy school record in the 60m hurdles, winning the event with a time of 7.87, the 22nd best time in NCAA DI this season
- Part of Navy's winning 4x400m relay team that won with an IC4A-qualifying time of 3:16.39
 
Patriot League Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Molly Mangan / Sprints / So. / 5-6 / Pittsburgh, Pa. / Mount Lebanon
- Competed in and won three events to help tally 15 of Navy's 98 total points while recording ECAC-qualifying times in the 60m (7.61), 200m (24.61) and the 4x400m relay (3:51.06)
- Her time of 7.61 in the 60m is the sixth-fastest in program history while her 200m time of 24.61 broke a facility record and is the ninth-fastest in program history
 
Patriot League Men's Rookie of the Week
Walker Rudisaile / Pole Vault / Fr. / 5-10 / Marion, Texas / Marion
- Won the pole vault by clearing 5.00m (16-04.75) to qualify for IC4A Championships
- Won the event by 0.11 meters with his best vault of the season
