Navy Announces Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse Schedules, Addresses Fan Attendance

ANNAPOLIS, Md. —  The Navy men's and women's lacrosse programs officially released their 2021 schedules on Friday morning. The Navy women kick things off with its opener on Feb. 13 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium against George Mason (11 am), while the Navy men will play host to Mount St. Mary's the following Saturday (Feb. 20) in its opener.

Following the guidelines set by state and local government officials, Navy will allow fans at its home men's and women's lacrosse games this spring. The current protocol allows for 25 percent capacity at outdoor venues. Fans will be required to wear a mask throughout the contest and asked to maintain social distancing.

While both programs' schedules are comprised of nonconference and conference contests, Patriot League competition will have a different look this spring. Instead of the traditional format, the Patriot League will split into divisions - North and South - with both Navy teams members of the South Division. On the men's side, the North Division will be made up of Army, Boston U., Colgate and Holy Cross, while Navy will be joined by Bucknell, Lafayette, Lehigh and Loyola to form the South Division. League play is slated to begin on Saturday, March 6, concluding on Saturday, April 24, with a built-in makeup date planned for Saturday, May 1. The 2021 Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Championship is scheduled to begin with the semifinal round on Friday, May 7, followed by the championship game on Sunday, May 9.

The women's North Division will be comprised of Army, Boston U., Colgate, Holy Cross and Lafayette, while the South will feature American, Bucknell, Lehigh, Loyola and Navy. Teams will play each divisional opponent at least once with limited games against non-divisional opponents. A minimum of seven League games will be played by each team. League play is set to begin on Saturday, March 6, and conclude on Saturday, April 24, with a built-in make-up date planned for Saturday, May 1. The 2021 Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Championship is scheduled to begin with the semifinal round on Thursday, May 6, with the championship game on Saturday, May 8.

All home men's games are scheduled to be carried on the Navy Radio Network and aired locally on 1430 AM / 99.9 FM WNAV. Streaming information for both men's and women's games will be announced at a later date.
