ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy men's soccer swept this week's Patriot League weekly awards after the Midshipmen picked up a 2-1 win over Colgate this past week.
Baba Kallie (Fr., Coatesville, Pa.) was selected as the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week,
Wyatt Millard (Sr., Columbia, S.C.) earned Midfielder of the Week honors,
Toni Adewole (Sr., Clarksburg, Md.) was named Defensive Player of the Week and
Ian Bramblett (Sr., Easley, S.C.) garnered Goalkeeper of the Week honors, the league office announced on Tuesday morning.
Kallie and Millard both earn their first career weekly recognitions while Adewole wins his second weekly award and first since the 2017 season. This is Bramblett's fourth weekly honor from the Patriot League after winning the weekly award three times during the 2019 season.
Kallie sparked the Navy offense in its come from behind victory as he scored his first collegiate goal in the 44th minute to tie the game at one goal apiece. He collected the ball at the top of the penalty area where he turned and fired a right-footed shot into the upper right corner of the net to tie the game heading into the break. Then in the second half with the game still tied, Kallie had a run with the ball down the right wing and played the ball toward the top of the six-yard box that deflected off of a Colgate defender and into the back of the net to give Navy a 2-1 win this past weekend.
Millard notched an assist on the Midshipmen's game-tying goal in their win to start the Patriot League season. After a free kick into the penalty area was headed away by Colgate, Millard won the second ball and volleyed it back into the 18-yard box where he found Kallie who scored his first collegiate goal. With his assist on Sunday, Millard now has seven career assists and he has also chipped in with three goals during his 53 games at Navy.
Adewole spearheaded the Navy defense that limited the Raiders to just six total shots in Sunday's spring opener with only three shots on goal for the entire 90 minutes. Adewole also helped the Navy offense pressure the Colgate defense as he was the primary taker of all long throw-ins in the Midshipmen offensive third. Adewole has now started in 52 of 53 games since joining the squad in 2017 and has logged 4,329 minutes for the Midshipmen.
Bramblett recorded two saves for Navy in its 2-1 win over Colgate and also controlled the penalty area to cut out any balls played into the area. The senior has now won 14 of his last 19 starts in goal for Navy. In his 28 career starts, Bramblett has compiled a 0.97 goals-against average and a .733 save percentage.
Navy has started the season with a record of 2-0-0 and is 1-0-0 in the Patriot League.
