Track and Field Continues Season at IC4A / ECAC Championships

Competition in the three-day meet begins on Friday at 12:00 p.m.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy track and field heads to Springfield, Mass. for the annual IC4A / ECAC Championships this weekend at John G. Hoyt '52 Track & Field Complex on the campus of American International College. The men's track and field team has won the last two IC4A Outdoor Championships (2018, '19) and will look to win three consecutive titles for the first time since the Midshipmen won three straight in 1944, 1945, and 1946. The women's team is seeking its first ECAC Outdoor title since 1989.
 
Meet Schedule
The three-day meet begins with field events and multi events at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 14. The meet continues on Saturday with running events slated for 10:45 a.m. and field events staring at 11:00 a.m. The meet concludes on Sunday, May 16 with events kicking off at 11:00 a.m. Complete schedule is available here.

Spectator Policy
Due to the continued threat to the safety of student-athletes and staff due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, American International College has chosen to continue the policy of not permitting spectators at home sporting events during the spring 2021 season.
 
Johnstone Highlights Patriot League Outdoor All-Academic Honorees
Senior Thomas Johnstone (Los Gatos, Calif.) was named the 2021 Patriot League Men's Outdoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Johnstone highlighted six Navy track and field student-athletes who were named to the men's and women's Academic All-Patriot League teams. Navy placed three men – Johnstone, Ashwin Briggs (Pickerington, Ohio), and Sean Casey (Vienna, Va.) – and four women – Katie Halbert (Keller, Texas), Molly Mangan (Pittsburgh, Pa.), and Sam Orie (Greensburg, Pa.) – on the teams.
 
The men's and women's Academic All-Patriot League Teams featured 10 men and 10 women. Three Navy student-athletes made the men's squad with two from Army and one apiece from American, Boston, Bucknell, Lafayette, and Lehigh. The Navy and Army women's squads each placed three student-athletes on the academic team. Boston, Bucknell, Colgate, and Loyola all earned one spot on the women's team.
 
Last Time at IC4A / ECAC Championships (May 12, 2019)
For the second consecutive season, the Navy men's track and field team won the IC4A Outdoor Championship. The men's team posted a combined score of 109 points to win by 42 at Weaver Stadium on the campus of Princeton University. It is the first time that Navy has won back-to-back IC4A titles since the Midshipmen won three straight in 1944, 1945, and 1946.
 
The men finished first among the 44 teams that scored in an event. Navy tallied 109 points to finish ahead of Monmouth (67 points), William and Mary (38), Northeastern (35), and Albany (33.50). The Midshipmen women, who had just 15 individuals and one relay team competing, finished in 16th out of 45 teams that scored with 18 total points. Albany claimed the women's title with 76 points, followed by Towson (73), Cornell (61), Penn (58), and Northeastern (40).
 
Navy tallied 21 All-East performances with the men's team earning 14 individuals and two relay teams and the women's team earning five individuals.
