TOKYO – Former Navy track and field standout Regine Tugade ('20), running for Guam, took part in the 100m dash at the Tokyo Olympics, marking her second appearance at the Olympic stage.
Tugade took part in the second heat of the 100m dash, clocking a season-best time of 12.17 to finish fourth in the heat. The top three finishers in each heat automatically advanced to the next round with the next fastest time also moving on. Overall, Tugade finished 13th out of the 27 competitors, just missing out of advancing to the next round of competition.
The sprinter also competed in the Rio Olympics in 2016 as a plebe, finishing third in her heat (top two advanced) during the preliminaries.
Tugade was a four-year track and field athlete at the Academy, serving as team captain as a senior during the 2019-20 season. During her career, she was a two-time All-Patriot League honoree, claiming second-team distinction in the 200m dash in 2019 and as a part of the 4x100m relay team in 2018. In addition, Tugade was named Patriot League Track Athlete of the Week three times in her career.
