Navy senior golf captain Chad Deegan (Newport Beach, Calif.) received a pair of honors this week, including being named the Patriot League Men's Golfer of the Week following his second-place finish at The Doc Gimmler last weekend. Deegan was also named the Naval Academy Athletic Association Athlete of the Week presented by Northrop Grumman.

Deegan played a near-flawless 54 holes in the season-opening Doc Gimmler last Saturday and Sunday at the par-70 Red Course at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y. He turned in his third-career top-5 finish as he closed out the two-day tournament just a stroke out of the lead with his 3-under par 207 (69-71-67). His 3-under par 67 in the final round was highlighted by a hole-in-one on the fourth hole, while the 67 was the lowest round by a Navy player over the weekend.

Navy welcomes St. John's to the Naval Academy Golf Club on Sunday where the two teams will battle one another in match play. Action is slated to begin at 10:00 am with six players from each team competing.
