Volleyball Home for Matches Friday vs. Army, Saturday vs. Holy Cross

•    The Navy volleyball team returns home this weekend for a pair of matches in the Wesley A. Brown Field House.  The Mids (10-8, 7-2) first play host to Army (11-8, 7-2) Friday at 7 p.m., then face Holy Cross (2-18, 0-9) Saturday at 4 p.m. 
•    Holy Cross will play Friday at Loyola before traveling to Annapolis on Saturday.
•    ESPN+ will stream both matches.  Links to that as well as to the live statistics from the match can be found at NavySports.com.
•    The free fan shuttle bus service begins one hour prior to the start of the matches.  It will depart from and return to the blue (west) parking lot at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (550 Taylor Ave., Annapolis, MD, 21401) on Friday and from the Navy Health Clinic (695 Kinkaid Rd., Annapolis, MD, 21402) on Saturday.

Last Week 
•     Navy's lone match of the week saw the Mids drop a 3-1 decision at Colgate (25-16, 24-26, 25-20,25-22).
•    The main statistical difference between the teams was Navy having 23 attack errors and Colgate totaling 10.  That led the Raiders to outhitting the Mids, .383-.244.
•    Jamie Llewellyn and Jordan Llewellyn each had 14 kills for the Mids.
•    Maggie Bodman had 10 kills and three blocks.

Next Week
•     Navy begins a run for four-straight road matches with contests at American on Friday and at Loyola on Saturday.

Army Preview
•    Army travels to Annapolis with an 11-8 overall record and a 7-2 record against league foes. 
•    The Black Knights posted a 3-0 win at Bucknell last weekend.
•    Army defeated Navy in three sets (25-19, 28-26, 25-19) on Sept. 17 in West Point, N.Y.
•    The Black Knights lead the all-time series with the Mids, 51-19.  This includes a 19-12 advantage in matches played in Annapolis.
•    Army also holds a lead of 38-15 in Patriot League regular season matches played between the programs.  That advantage is 16-10 in league matches played on The Yard

Holy Cross Preview
•    Holy Cross heads into a Friday match at Loyola with a 2-18 overall record and a 0-9 mark against league foes.
•    Navy posted a 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-20) victory over Holy Cross on Sept. 16 in Worcester, Mass.
•    Navy enters the week with a 43-13 lead in the series with Holy Cross.  The Mids also lead the Crusaders, 20-5, in matches played in Annapolis.
•    Navy leads Holy Cross, 40-13, in Patriot League regular season matches, a record that includes a 19-5 advantage in league matches played in Annapolis.

Close Sets
•     Eight of Navy's 13 sets during the Quest for the Crown tournament were decided by just two points.
•    Five of Navy's nine sets during the Colgate (3 of 4) and Bucknell (2 of 5) weekend were decided by two points.
•    On the season, 20 of the team's 71 sets (28%) have been decided by the minimum of two points and 36 sets (51%) have been decided by five or fewer points.
•    Navy had 17 sets decided by two points during the entire 2021 season.
•    Navy has had 17 sets this year (8-9 record) in which the final score for the winning team surpassed either 25 points in sets one through four or 15 points in set five.  The highest point total in a set this season was a 32-30 loss to VCU and a 32-30 loss at Bucknell.  The Mids also won a 21-19 fifth set at Bucknell. 
•    Navy had eight sets during the entire 2021 season in which the final score was higher than either 25 points in sets one through four or 15 points in set five.

•    Navy is averaging 14.92 kills per set (358 kills, 24 sets) and allowing 10.54 kills per set (253) over the last six matches.

•    Averi Miller is averaging 11.53 assists per set (369 assists, 32 sets) and 1.91 digs per set (61 digs) over the last eight matches.
