Match Information
• Navy travels to Hamilton, N.Y., for a match against Army in the semifinal round of the Patriot League Tournament. The contest between the third-seeded Mids (15-11) and second-seeded Black Knights (18-8) will start at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
• The first semifinal match of the day features top-seeded Colgate (22-5) playing host to fourth-seeded Loyola (18-8).
• The two semifinal round winners will meet Sunday at 2 p.m. in the tournament final.
• Each of the three matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
Last Match
• Navy recorded a four-set victory over American Tuesday night in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Tournament. The third-seeded Mids bested the sixth-seeded Eagles, 25-22, 23-25, 25-16, 25-23.
• Navy took a 16-8 lead in the first set, but saw its advantage dwindle to as few as two points several times, including at 23-21 and 24-22.
Ashley Warren knocked down a kill to give the frame to the Mids.
• The Eagles built some separation in set two, taking a 15-9 lead. Navy scored the next seven points to take a 16-15 lead. The Mids took several two-point leads,m then an ace by
Rilee Sherman gave them a 22-21 lead. American jumped in front, 23-22, then a sideout tied the score for the 12th time at 23-23. AU posted back-to-back kills to even the match.
• Navy dominated the latter half of set three, turning an 11-10 deficit into a 17-11 and 21-13 lead. The Mids had 12 kills and no attack errors in the set.
• The Eagles took a 7-1 lead at the start of the fourth set. Navy slowly chipped away at the margin and drew to within one point at 12-11. American took an 18-15 lead only to see the Mids answer with a 6-0 run that gave them a 21-18 advantage. Navy reached match point with a 24-21 lead, but the Eagles responded with consecutive kills to close to within 24-23.
Ashley Warren posted her fifth kill of the set to end the two-hour match.
• Most statistics between the teams were even, except at the service line. Navy had seven kills and six errors while American had no aces and nine errors.
• Warren posted 16 kills and a .375 attack percentage. She also added five blocks.
Jamie Llewellyn snared a career-high 24 digs.
Navy in the PL Tournament
• Navy has advanced to the Patriot League Tournament in four of
Paco Labrador's five seasons.
• The Mids were the No. 2 seed in the four-team field in his first season, 2018. Navy would defeat Loyola and American to win the program's first Patriot League Tournament title.
• In 2019, Navy was the No. 4 seed in the six-team event. The Mids defeated No. 5 Lehigh in the quarterfinals before losing to No. 1 American in the semifinals.
• The field was reduced to just four teams in the 2020-21 COVID season. The Mids were tied with American and Army for third place, but barely lost out on a berth into the field.
• Last season, the No. 6 Mids went on the road to defeat No. 3 Army in the quarterfinal round, then fell to top-seeded Colgate in the semifinals.
• Navy has advanced to the semifinal round for the sixth season in a row in which a fully played season was contested (does not include the abbreviated 2020-21 COVID season). That is the longest current streak of semifinal appearances in the league.

Army Preview
• Army enters Saturday semifinal match with an overall record of 18-8 and a 14-2 record in league play. The Black Knights shared the 2022 regular season title with Colgate but lost out to the Raiders for the No. 1 seed due to the head-to-head sets record between the teams (4-3 in favor of Colgate).

Loyola defeated Bucknell in four sets Tuesday in the quarterfinal round of the tournament to advance to Hamilton with an overall record of 11-13.

Celie Feighery Receives Service Assignment
• First class Midshipmen (seniors) at the USNA learned of their service assignment during lunch on Thursday, Nov. 17.

Celie Feighery, the lone senior on the volleyball team, received Navy aviation (pilot) for her service assignment.
Trio Earns Patriot League Accolades
•
Maggie Bodman,
Averi Miller and
Jordan Llewellyn received postseason awards from the Patriot League on Monday. Bodman garnered first-team all-league accolades and both Miller and Llewelyyn were named to the league's second team.
• Bodman previously was named the league's rookie of the year and received a pair of second-team all-league honors. This year, she led the league in hitting percentage during the league season at the time of the awards with a mark of .382 and ranks fifth with an average of 1.03 blocks per set. Bodman also ranks second in hitting percentage (.330) and fifth in blocks (1.04 bps) for the overall campaign.
• Miller received a postseason nod for the first time in her career. She leads all players with an average of 10.57 assists per set during the league season and stands second with her 9.92 assists-per-set average for the full year.
• Llewellyn joins Miller in earning league recognition for the first time. She stands third in both kills (3.52 kps) and aces (0.46 saps) against league competition, as well as fourth in kills (3.38 kps) and seventh in aces (0.33 saps) in all matches played this season.
Klemeyer Earns Academic Honor
•
Anna Klemeyer was named to the Patriot League All-Academic Team on Thursday. This is the first time she has received the award.
• A junior computer science major, Klemeyer has posted a 3.95 overall GPA at Navy. She has recorded a 4.00 GPA in two terms. Klemeyer has received academic honors from Navy in each of her four completed semesters and is ranked 54th in her class on the Overall Order of Merit (includes academic, military grades and conduct).
• On the court, she entered the week ranked seventh in the league in blocks (0.90 bps) and eighth in blocks in league matches (0.90 bps). She missed the first two weeks of the season due to a rotator cuff injury, then missed two weeks of league play in early October due to an ankle injury. Because of those missed matches, she does not have enough attempts to qualify for the league hitting percentage leaders. However, her numbers ranked fourth in the league overall (.325) and sixth in league play (.295).

Miller Surpasses 1,000 Career Assists

Averi Miller became the ninth Mid during the rally scoring era and 13th Navy setter since 1994 (when statistics became available) to surpass 1,000 career assists when she attained the milestone during Navy's Sept. 10 win over Notre Dame.
• The current junior was limited to just 69 assists as a freshman when Navy played only five matches during the 2020/21 spring COVID season. She then amassed 646 assists in the fall of 2021 as a sophomore.
