BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League announced its first women's lacrosse weekly honors of the season and three Navy student-athletes – Alexis Bell (Johns Creek, Ga.), Jo Torres (Prince Frederick, Md.), and Jaimeson Meyer (Sandy, Utah) – were selected based on their performance in Navy's 18-10 season-opening victory over Cal. Bell was named Defensive Player of the Week, while Torres earned Goalkeeper of the Week. In her first collegiate game, Meyer claimed Rookie of the Week accolades.

Bell finished the game with two ground balls and a caused turnover, while using solid defense to shield Cal attackers from retrieving ground balls that rolled out of bounds, giving Navy extra possessions. The senior guarded Cal's Nikki Zaccaro, who led the Golden Bears in points in 2021, keeping the attacker without a point (0g 0a) on just two shots with no shots on goal.
 
Torres earned her first win of the season, recording 11 saves in the game. The sophomore notched her third career double-digit save game, coming one stop shy of tying a career high in saves. Torres held the Cal offense to two or fewer goals in three of the four quarters of the game.
 
Meyer scored a hat trick in her first college game (all in the second half), leading the team with three goals in the victory. She took four shots, converting all three shots on goal for the hat trick. Meyer scored her first collegiate goal in the third quarter, while closing out the game with two goals in Navy's 5-1 run to put the game away.
 
Navy returns to action next week with a pair of home games. The Midshipmen welcome George Mason on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 5:00 p.m. before hosting George Washington on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 4:00 p.m. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will be available.
