ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Jake Fishkin (Sr., Baltimore, Md.), Nicholas Nguyen (So., McLean, Va.) and Gavin Segraves (Jr., Charlottesville, Va.) each won a pair of matches to help the Navy men's tennis team (18-7, 1-0) to a 4-0 victory over Boston University (1-14, 0-1), Sunday morning at the Tose Family Tennis Center in Annapolis.  The match was the first Patriot League contest of the year for both teams.

The Mids also lost a 5-2 decision at James Madison (12-4) Sunday afternoon.

Navy lost a combined four games in winning the three doubles matches against Boston U.  The No. 1 team of Sasha Panyan (So., Lutherville, Md.) and Derrick Thompson (Sr., Towson, Md.) defeated Adrian Pawlowski and Johann Sajonz by the score of 6-1 in what was the first match to finish.  Fishkin and Jack Dabek (Sr., Dublin, Ohio) secured the point for Navy when the duo posted 6-2 win over Jonah Dickson and Dion Loutas at the No. 2 flight.  Completing the sweep of the doubles matches was Navy's No. 3 tandem of Nguyen and Segraves as the pair defeated Gabe Brown and Ben Letzer by the score of 6-1.

The Navy lead increased to 2-0 when Nguyen defeated Sajonz, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 6 singles.  It was a 3-0 score following Fishkin's 6-4, 6-1 victory over Pawlowski at the No. 3 flight.  Fishkin ended play for the day when he defeated Loutas, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 2 singles.

In the remaining matches, Thompson and Dickson had played the first game of a third set at No. 1 singles, Panyan was one game away from forcing a third set in his No. 5 match against Letzer and Dabek held a 6-3, 4-4 lead over Brown at the No. 4 flight.

Navy also won the doubles point in its match at James Madison, but the decision came down to the last match left on the courts.  The Navy team of Finn Garner (Jr., Arnold, Md.) and Luke Garner (Fr., Arnold, Md.) defeated Holden Koons and Youssef Sadek, 7-6 (7-2), at No. 1 doubles to give the point to the Mids. The earlier victory recorded by the Mids came at No. 2 doubles as Jack McBride (Sr., Chapel Hill, N.C.) and William Pak (So., Chantilly, Va.) defeated Mathieu Josserand and Edson Sanchez by the score of 6-2.

Playing in a facility with just three available courts, The score would be tied 2-2 after the Nos. 1 through 3 singles were completed.  Navy's win came from Luke Garner as he posted a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Sadek at No. 3 singles.  Additionally, the No. 1 match between Finn Garner and Koons was won by the latter in a third set.

The last three matches to take to the courts saw James Madison win each in three sets.

Navy will play four road matches this coming weekend, starting with matches Saturday at Lehigh and VCU and ending Sunday with duals at No. 21 Columbia and Mount St. Mary's.
