ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy men's tennis team earned a pair of road victories against Patriot League foes on Sunday to improve its record to 5-0 against league competition.  The Mids (24-10) defeated Lafayette (3-13, 0-5) by the score of 4-0 in Easton, Pa., and Holy Cross (2-13, 1-5) by a 7-0 count in Worcester, Mass.

The Mids won the doubles point against Lafayette thanks to their winning a pair of 6-2 matches at the top-two flights.  Finn Garner (Jr., Arnold, Md.) and Gavin Segraves (Jr., Charlottesville, Va.) won the first match to finish at the No. 2 flight, then Jake Fishkin (Sr., Baltimore, Md.) and Derrick Thompson (Sr., Towson, Md.) secured the point with a win at No. 1 doubles.

Navy then lost only a combined eight games in winning the first three singles match that finished.  Cy McLeod (Fr., Augusta, Ga.) posted a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.  Sam Vagner (Sr., Staten Island, N.Y.) next recorded a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the No. 4 flight.  Fishkin ended play with his 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.

Navy was up a set in each of the three matches that were halted.

The Mids swept the three doubles matches from the Crusaders to take a 1-0 lead.  Jack Dabek (Sr., Dublin, Ohio) and Luke Garner (Fr., Arnold, Md.) lost just one game in winning at No. 1 doubles, then William Pak (So., Chantilly, Va.) and Sasha Panyan (So., Lutherville, Md.) recorded a 6-4 win at the No. 2 flight.  The team of Jan Kjellberg (Sr., White Plains, N.Y.) and Nicholas Nguyen (So., McLean, Va.) completed the sweep with a 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles.

Navy did not drop a set in winning the six singles matches.  

Dabek made the score 2-0 when he won, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles.  A 6-0, 6-2 win by Conners O'Brien (Sr., Rensselaer, N.Y.) at the No. 5 flight made the score 3-0.  Kjellberg earned the match-clinching fourth point when he won, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 6 singles.

The additional wins were posted by Panyan at No. 1, Garner at No. 3 and Nguyen at No. 4.

Navy will take to the road again Saturday for matches at Colgate and at Norfolk State.
