ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The No. 24 Navy women's lacrosse team (11-2, 5-0 Patriot League) heads to Worcester, Mass. to take on Holy Cross (5-7, 2-3) at Kuzniewski Field on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. for a Patriot League match up. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and live stats will be available.
 
Scouting the Midshipmen
The No. 24 Midshipmen enter the weekend 11-2 on the season, including a 5-0 mark in Patriot League play. Navy rolled to a 16-6 victory over Boston University last Saturday afternoon at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The game, which was presented by First Command, was Senior Day for the Midshipmen.
 
Offensively, Navy has tallied 249 points on 179 goals and 70 assists in 13 games. Of the 18 players who have scored points, 10 have been upperclassmen (juniors / seniors) and eight have been underclassmen (freshmen / sophomores). Through 13 games, the upperclassmen have registered 110 goals, accounting for 61.5% of the goals scored, while the underclassmen have tallied 69 scores. The upperclassmen have accounted for 62.7% of the points scored with 65.7% of the team's assists.
 
The Mids are led by Reagan Roelofs (Apple Valley, Minn.), Leelee Denton (Nashville, Tenn.), Kasey Dietzel (Warrington, Pa.), Gil Eby (Towson, Md.), Charlotte Ryan (Tully, N.Y.), and Lindsay Beardmore (Annapolis, Md.).
 
Roelofs paces the offense with a team-high 46 points on a team-best 33 goals and team-high 13 assists. Denton and Dietzel are next with 30 points with Denton chipping in 24 goals and six assist and Dietzel registering 18 goals and 12 helpers. Eby (23g 6a) and Ryan (23g 6a) are tied with 29 points apiece, while Beardmore (13g 10a) rounds out the 20-point scorers 22 points.
 
The Mids have picked up 263 ground balls, won 194 draw controls, caused 96 turnovers, and tallied 120 saves.
 
Christine Fiore (Darian, Conn.) has grabbed a team-high 29 ground balls, while Eby and Grace Loughery (Perkasie, Pa.) added 25 GBs apiece. Alexis Bell (Johns Creek, Ga.), Jo Torres (Prince Frederick, Md.), and Dietzel have tallied 22 ground balls each. Roelofs leads the team with 72 draw controls, while Dietzel is second with 53. Loughery leads the team with 14 caused turnovers, while Bell is second with 13. Fiore and Erin Carson (New Albany, Ohio) have added 11 and 10 CT, respectively.
 
Torres leads the team with 107 of Navy's 120 saves in just over 707 minutes of action. Torres has earned 10 victories with a 53.8 save percentage and a 7.81 goals against average. She is joined by Emma Richardell (Bethesda, Md.) who has 13 stops in 68 and a half minutes of action.
 
Scouting the Opponent
Holy Cross stands 5-7 so far this season with a 2-3 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders have won two of their last three games and are coming off a 16-4 win at Lafayette last Saturday.
 
During last week's victory at Lafayette, Holy Cross allowed just four goals, the fewest it has given up against a Patriot League opponent since defeating Lafayette 13-4 on April 17, 2010. In addition, the Crusaders' 12-goal margin of victory was the largest against PL foe since April 7, 2012 (W, 20-5 vs. Bucknell).
 
In 11 games played this year, Jolie Creo leads the team in scoring with 61 points on 43 goals and 18 assists. She leads the Patriot League with averages of 3.91 goals and 5.55 points per game, marks which stand 10th and eighth in the nation, respectively.
 
In the Lafayette game, Grace Flink made a season-high 15 saves while allowing just four goals for a .789 save percentage. Overall, this season, she stands 5-7 with a 13.55 goals against average and 103 saves.
 
All-Time Series
The game marks the 16th meeting between the two teams and the first meeting since 2019. Navy holds a 13-2 (.867) overall record against Holy Cross with a 4-2 mark on the road. The Midshipmen have won three in a row against the Crusaders.
 
The teams have not met the last two seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020 Patriot League season was canceled and the 2021 season saw the conference split into divisions. Navy was in the South Division and did not play Holy Cross who was in the North Division.
 
Navy won the last meeting between the two teams, 22-6. The last time the two teams met Worcester, the Midshipmen posted a 19-7 victory over the Crusaders.
 
National Rankings
The ILWomen / IWLCA Division I Poll was officially announced on Monday morning and the Navy women's lacrosse team remained ranked in the national poll. The Mids enter the week ranked No. 24. The Mids have been ranked six consecutive weeks this season. In its history, Navy has been ranked 69 total weeks, including a streak of 47 consecutive weeks from the final poll of the 2017 season (May 30, 2017) to April 12, 2021. In addition, the Midshipmen are receiving votes according to the US Lacrosse rankings.

The No. 24 Navy women's lacrosse rolled to a 16-6 victory over Boston University on Saturday afternoon at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The game, which was presented by First Command, was Senior Day for the Midshipmen.
 
Prior to the game, the Mids recognized the nine seniors – Alexis Bell (Johns Creek, Ga.), Kasey Dietzel (Warrington, Pa.), Gil Eby (Towson, Md.), Erin Finley (Downingtown, Pa.), Christine Fiore (Darien, Conn.), Bobbie Haney (Woodbine, Md.), Grace Loughery (Perkasie, Pa.), Reagan Roelofs (Apple Valley, Minn.), and Jade Torres (Prince Frederick, Md.) – for their impact on the Navy women's lacrosse team.
 
Offensively, the Mids scored 16 goals on 39 shots. Navy tied the school record with eight free-position goals on the day. Roelofs led the team with a career-high seven points on a career-best five goals, including a pair of free-position goals with two assists. Leelee Denton (Nashville, Tenn.) also notched a hat trick, finishing with three goals and adding a helper for four points. Dietzel, Haney, and Charlotte Ryan (Tully, N.Y.) each added a pair of goals, while Eby and Tori DiCarlo (Rosemont, Pa.) added goals. Eby and Lindsay Beardmore (Annapolis, Md.) contributed assists in the game.
 
Roelofs and Dietzel paced the squad with eight and seven draw controls, respectively. The Mids finished the day winning 19 of 26 draws in the game.
 
Defensively, Navy caused 11 of Boston's 18 turnovers on the day. Erin Carson (New Albany, Ohio), Bell, and Fiore led the team with two caused turnovers apiece. Carson and Jo Torres (Prince Frederick, Md.) led the team with four ground balls apiece, while Beardmore, Denton, and Fiore added two GB each.
 
Jo Torres earned the victory at goal for the Mids. The sophomore logged 57:23 minutes in the cage, recording six saves with four ground balls and a caused turnover. She surrendered six goals, limiting the Terriers to two or fewer goals per quarter. Emma Richardell (Bethesda, Md.) worked the final 2:37 between the pipes, finishing with no goals allowed. The Navy defense has held its last four opponents to single-digit goals with a 5.75 goals against average.
