BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Six members of the Navy women's lacrosse team were named to the 2022 All-Patriot League Team announced Monday afternoon by the conference office. Four of Navy's six all-league selections were named to the first team.
Reagan Roelofs (Apple Valley, Minn.),
Gil Eby (Towson, Md.),
Alexis Bell (Johns Creek, Ga.), and
Christine Fiore (Darien, Conn.) were selected to the first team, while
Kasey Dietzel (Warrington, Pa.) and
Jo Torres (Prince Frederick, Md.) were named Second Team All-Patriot League.
Overall, 34 student-athletes were selected to the two All-Patriot League teams with 17 voted onto the first team and 17 more earning a spot on the second team due to ties in voting.
Loyola led the way with nine All-League selections. Navy placed six student-athletes on the two All-League teams with four on the first team, while Army and Lehigh had five selections apiece. American received three All-Patriot League accolades with Bucknell and Colgate collecting two apiece and Boston University and Holy Cross receiving one.
Seventeen (17) of the 34 All-Patriot League selections are multi-year honorees, including Eby, Fiore, and Roelofs who were all two-time picks.
The two All-Patriot League teams were comprised of 12 seniors, nine juniors, six graduate students, and six sophomores, along with one freshman.
Patriot League women's lacrosse head coaches voted on the All-League teams and major awards. They were prohibited from voting for their student-athletes or themselves.
First Team All-Patriot League
Reagan Roelofs – Attacker | Sr. | 5-9 | Apple Valley, Minn. | Apple Valley
Roelofs is a two-time All-Patriot League selection, claiming first-team accolades as a senior and second-team honors as a junior. The Navy offensive captain led the team in goals (41), points (55), and draw controls (99) in the regular season. She ranked in the Top 15 this season in the Patriot League in Draw Controls Per Game (5th), Free Position Goals Per Game (11th), Goals (9th), Goals Per Game (8th), Points (11th), and Points Per Game (9th). Roelofs finished the regular season with nine (9) hat tricks in 16 games played with 13 total multi-goal games.
Gil Eby – Midfielder | Sr. | 5-9 | Towson, Md. | Notre Dame Prep
A two-time First Team All-Patriot League honoree (2021, '22), Eby was third on the team with 37 total points and 31 goals scored to end the regular season – the most among Navy midfielders. She was second on the team with 11 multi-goal games in 17 games played with three hat tricks, including a pair of four-goal performances. Eby tallied 30 ground balls, 27 draw controls and nine caused turnovers. She registered three or more ground balls in seven games on the year, while causing at least one turnover in nine games.
Alexis Bell – Defender | Sr. | 5-7 | Johns Creek, Ga. | Northview
Bell was part of a Navy defense that held opponents to two or fewer goals in 43 (of 68) quarters in the regular season, including holding opponents scoreless for nine quarters, while holding nine opponents, including six Patriot League foes, to single digit goals scored. She served as one of Navy's top one-on-one defenders, while being named Patriot League Defender of the Week twice during the year (Feb. 14, April 4). Bell notched caused turnovers in 15 of Navy's 17 regular season games with multiple CTs in six games, including five consecutive Patriot League games to end the regular season. She picked up ground balls in 14 of 17 games with multiple GB in eight games.
Christine Fiore – Defender | Sr. | 6-0 | Darien, Conn. | Darien
Fiore, the Navy defensive team captain, earned First Team All-Patriot League distinction for the second consecutive season (2021, '22). She led the team with 38 ground balls in the regular season, while adding 15 caused turnovers and five draw controls. During the year, Fiore picked up at least one ground ball in 16 of 17 games this season with 14 multi-GB performances. She caused turnovers in 11 regular season games, including multiple CT in four games. In addition, she scored five points on three goals and two assists despite being on defense.
Second Team All-Patriot League
Kasey Dietzel – Midfielder | Sr. | 5-10 | Warrington, Pa. | Central Bucks South
Dietzel was named All-Patriot League for the first time in her Navy career. She finished the regular season second on the team with 39 total points, netting 24 goals with a team-high 15 assists. The midfielder registered points in 16 of 17 games on the season with goals in 14 contests and multiple scores in 10 games. She chipped in multiple assists in six different games, including all three games against ranked opponents (at No. 15 Drexel; vs. No. 16 Johns Hopkins; at No. 8 Loyola). In addition, Dietzel was second on the team with 69 draw controls, while also picking up 28 ground balls and causing six turnovers. She registered five or more draw controls in seven games.
Jo Torres – Goalkeeper | So. | 5-7 | Prince Frederick, Md. | St. Mary's
Torres picked up All-Patriot League honors for the first time in her career. The sophomore played and started every game, recording 136 saves in 944:28 minutes of action with a .500 save percentage and 8.64 goals against average during the regular season. Torres' goals against average and save percentage both ranked fifth in the NCAA, while ranking second in the Patriot League. In addition, she ranked fourth in the Patriot League saves and sixth in saves per game. She notched double-digit saves in six games with eight or more stops in 10 of Navy's 17 games. Torres and the Navy defense held nine opponents, including six Patriot League foes, to single digit goals scored.
