• Navy takes to the road for its third and final tournament of the non-league season this week when the Mids travel to Norfolk, Va., to compete in the Quest for the Crown Thursday through Saturday. Navy (2-4) will play Old Dominion (2-4), East Carolina (2-4) and Notre Dame (1-4) during the three-day event.
• Navy opens the tournament by facing tournament-host Old Dominion Thursday at 6:30 p.m. That match will be streamed through ESPN+. It will be the first match between the Mids and the Monarchs.
• The Mids and East Carolina will play Friday at 5 p.m. in the first meeting of the teams in six seasons.
• Navy closes the weekend by playing Notre Dame Saturday at noon. The Mids and the Fighting Irish will face each other for the first time. It also will be Navy's first match against an ACC team in seven seasons.

Last Week
• Navy played host to VCU, Michigan State and UAlbany Sept. 1-3 as part of the 11th edition of the Kristen Dickmann Invitational.
• The Mids began the event with a four-set loss to the Rams. VCU won the first set, 25-20, then Navy took a 22-20 lead in set two. The Rams scored four-straight points to reach set point (24-22), only to see the Mids go on a 3-0 run and reach set point themselves (25-24). Navy was unable to convert on six serves for the set before VCU rallied to win, 32-30. Navy did win set three, 25-17, but VCU closed the set and the match with a 25-18 win in set number four.
• Michigan State used 17 aces to defeat Navy in four sets, 25-10, 25-17, 18-25, 25-14, in the second match of the weekend for the Mids.
• Navy fought off two set points against it in the match against the Great Danes before winning the opening frame, 26-24. UAlbany evened the match with a 25-13 win in set number two, but the Mids were able to win the ensuing two sets, 25-20, 25-23, respectively, to come away with the victory.
Next Week
• Navy opens its Patriot League season with matches next Friday at Holy Cross and Saturday at Army. Both matches begin at 6 p.m.
Old Dominion Preview
• Thursday's match will be the first between the Mids and the Monarchs.
• Navy has posted a 4-15 record against teams that currently comprise the Sun Belt Conference, with that mark compounded by a 0-10 record against James Madison.
• The Mids last played a team that currently is a member of the Sun Belt Conference in 2009 when they played Georgia State.
• Old Dominion posted an overall record of 13-13 last year and tied for fourth place in the East Division of Conference USA with a 5-7 record.
• The Monarchs were predicted to place fifth in the seven-team East Division of the Sun Belt Conference this season.
• ODU has posted a 2-4 record this year, with wins coming against Marist and Coppin State and losses to Michigan, Utah Tech, Northern Arizona and Virginia Tech.
East Carolina Preview
• Friday's match between Navy and East Carolina will mark the first meeting between the teams in six seasons.
• ECU won the most recent match in 2016 to take a 5-4 lead in the series.
• That 2016 match against the Pirates was the last time the Mids faced a team that currently resides in the American Athletic Conference. Navy has tallied an 11-6 record against teams currently in the AAC.
• East Carolina recorded a 9-20 mark last season and placed ninth in the 11-team AAC with a 5-15 record.
• The Pirates placed ninth in this year's 11-team conference preseason poll.
• East Carolina enters the tournament with a 2-4 record through two weeks of play. The Pirates have defeated Furman and Norfolk State and suffered losses to Towson, Northeastern, East Tennessee State and Duke.
Notre Dame Preview
• Saturday's match will be the inaugural meeting between the Mids and Notre Dame.
• Navy last played a team in the ACC when it played Syracuse in 2015. The Mids have posted a 4-17 record against teams that are current members of the ACC.
• Notre Dame has played four previous matches against current Patriot League teams, but only one of those was against a team while they were members of the Patriot League. That match took place in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament when it played Army. The other matches were in 1981 and '82 against Colgate and in 2002 against Loyola, Maryland.
• Notre Dame posted a 13-15 overall record last season and tied for seventh place in the 15-team ACC with a 10-8 record.
• Notre Dame was tabbed to place ninth in the conference this season.
• Notre Dame travels to the tournament with a 1-4 record this season. The team has defeated Milwaukee and lost to Texas Tech, Mississippi State, Boise State and Long Beach State.
All-Tournament Team Members

Jamie Llewellyn was named to the all-tournament team at the Maryland Invitational. She led Navy in kills (39/3.55 kps), digs (20/1.82 dps) and aces (5/0.45 saps) in the three matches.

Ashley Warren was named to the all-tournament team at the Kristen Dickmann Invitational. She set career highs for kills in back-to-back matches against Michigan State (nine) and UAlbany (13). Warren totaled 28 kills in 12 sets on the weekend after having recorded 34 kills in 33 sets all of the 2021 season.
