This Week
•    The Navy volleyball team will face local league foes American and Loyola this weekend in what will be the second set of road matches of the season for the Mids. 
•    Navy plays at American Friday at 6 p.m. in Washington, D.C., and then at Loyola Saturday at 4 p.m. in Baltimore.
•    These will be Navy's first matches away from The Yard since its season-opening trip to Utah Valley (Aug. 29-30).
•    American will play at Loyola Sunday to complete the round robin weekend between the three local opponents.

Last Week
•    The Mids began their Patriot League season with a four-set loss to Army (23-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-22) and a four-set victory over Holy Cross (25-22, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19).  Both of those matches were played at home.

Navy vs. American
•    American compiled an overall record of 20-9 last year and tied for third place in the Patriot League with a 10-6 record.   The third-seeded Eagles lost in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Tournament.
•    The Eagles finished in fourth place in the 2025 Patriot League Preseason Poll.
•    American has posted an 8-4 record this season, which includes a five-set loss to Colgate (15-13 in the fifth set) and a four-set victory over Army in the team's first league matches of the year.  
•    The Eagles have posted a 5-7 record in sets decided by two points and an 11-12 record in sets decided by no more than five points.
•    The teams split their 2024 meetings with the road team winning each match.  American posted a three-set win (25-18, 25-11, 25-19) in Annapolis and the Mids recorded a five-set victory (25-20, 25-19, 22-25, 25-27, 15-12) in Washington, D.C.
•    Navy head coach Paco Labrador has accounted for seven of the program's eight victories over the Eagles since the Mids joined the Division I ranks in 1991.
•    The current Mids have totaled 38 career kills against American with Farrah Eike's nine leading the team.  
•    Zedo Yilmaz (16) and Elsie Sterling (15) have combined for 31 of American's 35 career kills against Navy.
•    American leads the Patriot League (all matches) in hitting percentage (.276), opponent hitting percentage (.178), aces (2.20 saps) and opponent kills (11.52 kps).  The Eagles also rank 12th in the NCAA in ace average and 28th in hitting percentage.
•    Individually, Alex Ioannou ranks second nationally with an average of 0.80 service aces per set, Bella Marrero stands 34th in the country with an average of 4.55 digs per set and Deniz Dakak is 34th in the NCAA with an average of 9.95 assists per set.

Navy vs. Loyola
•    Loyola posted an overall record of 10-16 last year and tied for fifth place in the Patriot League with an 8-8 record.   The fifth-seeded Greyhounds lost in the quarterfinal round of the league tournament. 
•    The Greyhounds finished in sixth place in the 2025 Patriot League Preseason Poll.
•    Loyola enters the weekend with a 3-8 record this season.  The Greyhounds posted a 2-7 record in non-league matches, then began the league campaign with a five-set victory over Holy Cross and a four-set loss to Colgate.
•    Loyola has tallied a 5-3 record in sets decided by two points and a 10-8 record in sets decided by no more than five points.
•    The home team won the both matches played between the teams a year ago.  Loyola won in five sets (25-18, 26-24, 23-25, 23-25, 15-13) in Baltimore and Navy won in four sets (25-17, 22-25, 25-21, 25-21) in Annapolis.
•    Navy and Loyola have played 11 matches –– including five five-set matches –– and 47 sets against one another since the start of the spring 2020-21 season.  Of those 47 sets, 13 were decided by two points –– including four "overtime" sets –– 19 were decided by three or fewer points and 29 were determined by no more than five points.

Double-Doubles
•    Arleigh Hanson registered 10 assist / dig double-doubles during the 2024 season.  That tied her for sixth place for the most by a Mid during a rally scoring season.
•    She then posted double-doubles in each of the three matches at the 2025 season-opening Utah Valley Invite and added another one against Gardner-Webb.
•    Her 14 career assist / dig double-doubles ranks eighth in school history.
•    Fellow setters Isa Boyd and Lainey Feighery also have combined for three double-doubles this season and six in their careers.
