Last Road Matches of Regular Season Sends Volleyball to Lafayette, Bucknell

This Week
•    The final road trip of the regular season for the Navy volleyball team begins Friday with a match at Lafayette and ends Saturday with a match at Bucknell.
•    The Mids (13-6 / 5-5) will face the Leopards (9-10 / 5-6) at 7 p.m. in the Kirby Sports Center in Easton, Pa.
•    The Bison (11-9 / 7-4) will play host to Loyola Friday before playing Navy Saturday at 4 p.m. in Davis Gym in Lewisburg, Pa.

Last Match
•    Navy dropped a three-set decision at American on Saturday, losing 26-24, 25-12, 25-11.
•    The Eagles recorded 33 kills and just one attack error in the last two-plus sets of the match.  Conversely, Navy posted 30 kills and 17 attack errors in the match as a whole.
•    Jamie Llewellyn led Navy in kills with eight and in digs with 12.

Lafayette Preview
•    Lafayette had lost matches to Colgate (3-0), Loyola (3-2) and Army (3-0) before recording a 3-0 victory over Holy Cross Saturday.
•    The Leopards have posted a 3-3 record in home league matches this season as part of a 5-4 record overall at home this year.

Series History
•    Navy has posted an overall record of 49-13 against Lafayette.  That includes a 21-5 record for the Mids in matches played in Easton.
•    The Mids also hold a 44-11 advantage in Patriot League regular season matches against the Leopards.  Navy leads, 21-5, in league regular season matches played at Lafayette.
•    Navy defeated Lafayette in both meetings last season, winning in four sets in Annapolis and three sets in Easton, then the Leopards defeated the Mids in five sets earlier this year in Annapolis.
•    Four of the 12 sets played between the teams since the start of the 2022 season have been decided by just two points and seven of those sets have been determined by five or fewer points.

Bucknell Preview 
•    Bucknell has won its last four matches, winning back-to-back meetings with Holy Cross then going on the road to win at Colgate (3-1) and at Army (3-2) on consecutive days.
•    The only loss by the Bison in the six matches since they faced the Mids was a four-set loss to American.

Series History
•    Navy holds a 39-23 lead in the all-time series with Bucknell.  This includes an 18-11 edge in matches played in Lewisburg.
•    The Mids also lead the Bison, 33-22, in Patriot League regular season matches, a record that includes an 18-11 lead in league matches played at Bucknell.
•    The teams have now played five-set matches in three-straight meetings.  In each instance, the team that held a 2-1 lead in sets ended up losing the match.
•    Five of the 15 sets played by the teams in this span were decided by just two points and 10 were determined by no more than five points.  This includes the Bison winning by the score of 32-30 (set two at Bucknell) and 16-14 (set five at Navy) and the Mids winning a 21-19 fifth set at Bucknell in 2022.
•    Navy and Bucknell played four-straight five-set matches during the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

Next Match
•    Navy begins a regular season ending four-match homestand with matches Nov. 3 vs. Colgate and No. 4 vs. Holy Cross.

•    Navy has played close sets all season long.
•    Of Navy's 71 sets played, 39 have been determined by no more than five points.  In league play, 23 of the team's 42 sets have been decided by five or fewer points.

Mids Swept by Eagles
•    Navy lost a three-set match to American on Oct. 21.  The result ended a 35-match span in which Navy had not been swept.  
•    The last time Navy was swept was Sept. 22, 2022, when Army defeated the Mids 3-0.
•    That broke the school record for the longest streak of Navy going without losing by a 3-0 count.  The Mids previously went 28 matches without being swept during the 2005 season.
•    During the 35-match streak of not being swept, Navy won 13 matches by the score of 3-0.

Miller Surpasses 2,500 Career Assists
•     A year ago, Averi Miller became the ninth Mid during the rally scoring era and 13th Navy setter since 1994 (when statistics became available) to surpass 1,000 career assists.
•    This season, she became the seventh Mid overall and fourth during the rally scoring era to reach 2,000 career helpers.  Miller became the fifth Mid overall and second in the rally scoring era to hand out 2,500 assists when she surpassed the milestone Oct. 18 vs. Loyola.
•    The current senior was limited to just 69 assists as a freshman when Navy played only five matches during the 2020/21 spring COVID season.

Navy Siblings
•     There have been five sets of siblings to play for the Navy volleyball team.
•     Jamie and Jordan Llewellyn form the first set of twins to play on the team and, in 2020/21, became the first siblings to be on the team at the same time.  An older Llewellyn sibling, Lindsay, graduated from Navy in 2023 and was a member of the women's basketball team.
