Road Trip for Volleyball Includes Friday Match at Lehigh, Saturday at Army

This Week
•     After a brief two-match homestand last week, the Navy volleyball team takes to the road for two league matches this week.  
•    Navy (11-3, 3-2) plays at Lehigh (9-8 / 1-5) Friday at 7 p.m. in Bethlehem, Pa., and at Army (8-7 / 5-1) Saturday at 7 p.m. in West Point, N.Y.  
•    The Black Knights do not play Friday evening.  They will instead face Lehigh Sunday in West Point.

•    The Army-Navy Star Match will be played Nov. 11 in Annapolis.

Last Week
•    Navy split a pair of five-set matches in the Wesley A. Brown Field House last week, defeating Bucknell one day and losing to Lafayette the next.
•    Both matches lasted two and one-half hours.
•    The Mids rallied from a 2-1 deficit in sets to defeat the Bison, 25-20, 21-25, 24-26, 25-18, 15-8.
•    Navy had slightly more attack errors than Bucknell, 33-28, but produced significantly more kills, 64-46.  The Mids also held leads in hitting percentage, .158-.107, digs, 85-76, and blocks, 14-10.
•    Three Mids recorded double-doubles in the match.  Jordan Llewellyn produced 17 kills and 14 digs, Jamie Llewellyn finished with 16 kills and 21 digs and Averi Miller tallied 54 assists and 12 digs.
•    Also, Hannah Hoover gathered in 21 digs and Maggie Bodman had nine kills to go along with six blocks.
•    The tables were turned in the match against the Leopards as the Mids let a 2-1 lead in sets slip away in a 24-26, 25-22, 21-25, 25-17, 15-10 loss.
•    The biggest statistical different between the teams was hitting errors as Navy had 31 and Lafayette had just 19.
•    Jordan Llewellyn led the Navy attack with 21 kills and five aces, Averi Miller neared a triple-double with 45 assists, 12 digs and eight kills and Maggie Bodman recorded 12 kills and five blocks.

Lehigh Preview
•    Lehigh enters the week with an overall record of 9-8 and a 1-5 mark in Patriot League matches.
•    The Mountain Hawks opened league play with a win over Holy Cross (3-0), but since have lost consecutive matches to Colgate (3-0), Bucknell (3-2), Lafayette (3-1), Loyola (3-1) and American (3-0).

Series History
•    Navy holds a 39-29 lead in the all-time series with Lehigh.  The Mountain Hawks lead the Mids, 15-13, in matches played in Bethlehem.
•    Navy leads Lehigh, 31-23, in Patriot League regular season matches.  However, the Mountain Hawks hold a 14-12 advantage in league matches played at Lehigh.
•    Navy posted a pair of victories over Lehigh last season, winning a three-set match in Annapolis and a five-set match in Bethlehem.  The score of the fifth set of the latter match was 16-14.
•    Each of the last two and five of the last six matches (since 2016) in the series that have been played in Bethlehem have been extended to five sets.  The one outlier in this span was a four-set match in 2019.

Army Preview
•    Army heads into Saturday's match against Navy with an overall record of 8-7 and a 5-1 record in league matches.
•    The one league loss for the Black Knights was a 3-0 loss at Colgate last week.  Army was on a six-match winning streak prior to the loss to the Raiders.

Series History
•    Army leads the all-time series with Navy, 52-20.  This includes a 30-6 advantage in matches played at West Point.
•    The Black Knights also hold a 39-15 advantage in Patriot League regular season matches against the Mids.  Army leads, 22-5, in league regular season matches played at West Point.
•    The teams have split the 10 matches with Navy head coach Paco Labrador on the sidelines.  Army leads, 3-2, in  matches played at West Point during the Labrador era.
•    The teams met three times last season, with Army winning both regular season matches –– 25-19, 28-26, 25-19 at Army; 25-19, 21-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-11 at Navy –– before the Mids defeated the Black Knights, 25-15, 24-26, 20-25, 25-17, 18-16, in the semifinal round of the Patriot League Tournament that was held at Colgate.
•    Four of the last eight (since 2019) and eight of the last 17 matches (since 2015) played between the teams have been extended to five sets.

•    The Mids have played 19 sets that have been decided by either two or three points and 31 sets (of 51 overall) that have been determined by five or fewer points.
•    In league matches Navy has had 10 sets decided by either two or three points and 15 (of 22 in all) have been determined by five or less points.
•    Eight of Navy's 14 first sets have been determined by either two or three points.   This includes four of Navy's five first sets in league matches.

Next Week
•    Navy returns to Annapolis for the start of split back-to-back home matches against American on Oct. 13 and Loyola on Oct. 18.
•    Those are the only two home matches for the Mids in the month of October.
•    Navy will be at home for its final four matches of the regular season in November.

Miller Surpasses 2,000 Career Assists
•     A year ago, Averi Miller became the ninth Mid during the rally scoring era and 13th Navy setter since 1994 (when statistics became available) to surpass 1,000 career assists.
•    This season, she became the seventh Mid overall and fourth during the rally scoring era to reach 2,000 career helpers.
•    The current senior was limited to just 69 assists as a freshman when Navy played only five matches during the 2020/21 spring COVID season.
•    She enters the weekend needing 11 assists to move into fifth place at Navy overall for the most in a career and second during the rally scoring era.

Navy Siblings
•     There have been five sets of siblings to play for the Navy volleyball team.
•     Jamie and Jordan Llewellyn form the first set of twins to play on the team and, in 2020/21, became the first siblings to be on the team at the same time.  An older Llewellyn sibling, Lindsay, graduated from Navy in 2023 and was a member of the women's basketball team.
•     The number of siblings being on the team at the same time increased to two in 2022 when freshman Lainey Feighey joined older sister and senior Celie on the squad.  
•     Twins Jamie Llewellyn and Jordan Llewellyn enter the weekend with a combined:
