ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The College Sports Communicators organization (formerly CoSIDA) announced its 2023 CSC Women's Soccer Academic All-District honorees on Tuesday and
Chloe Dawson and
Katie Herrmann of the Navy women's soccer team were noted as all-district recipients. An honors robotics & control engineering major at the United States Naval Academy, Dawson has been named to the All-District Team for the third time in her career, while Herrmann, an English major, is now a first-time honoree.
A high achiever both on and off the pitch throughout her four years as a Mid, Dawson is a two-time CSC Academic All-American as she was named to the second team in 2021 and to the first team in 2022. Earlier this postseason, she was recognized on the Patriot League All-Academic Team for the third consecutive year as one of the conference's top-11 scholar-athletes. Suiting up in all 19 games for Navy as a senior outside back, Dawson was on the field for 900 minutes of action. On the offensive end of the pitch, the senior recorded nine shots and recorded a goal against Delaware State and an assist in the season-opener versus Charleston Southern. As a student at the Naval Academy, Dawson has earned recognition on the USNA's Supt's and Dant's Lists in each of her first six completed semesters, while posting a 3.98 grade point average. Among the Class of 2024, she resides inside the top-20 of both the Overall and Military Orders of Merit and recently service selected Marine Corps Air for her post-commissioning assignment.
Herrmann has been a standout midfielder for Navy over her four years with All-Patriot League Second Team honors bestowed upon her in 2021 and 2023. This past fall, the Charlotte native wrapped up her career with two goals and two assists over 1,349 minutes of playing time, including 749 minutes in Patriot League action. For her four-year career, Herrmann tallied six goals and four assists over 63 games and 5,026 minutes. In the classroom as an English major, she's posted a 3.58 grade point average and has earned spots on the Dant's List in five of her first six semesters. Herrmann recently service selected Navy Pilot for her post-commissioning assignment.
Criteria for the CSC award requires a student-athlete be at least a sophomore and a key contributor to their team (90% playing time-appearances or 66% starts) and have attained a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average.
Formerly known as the College Sports Information Directors of America, the College Sports Communicators organization has sponsored the Academic All-America program since 1952. The organization has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
