Men's Basketball

Second-Place Mids to Play Host to First-Place Colgate Saturday in Regular Season Finale

The 2022-23 Patriot League men's basketball regular season will come to a close Saturday with Navy (18-11, 11-6) playing host to Colgate (22-8, 16-1) in a 4 p.m. game in Alumni Hall that will be aired on the CBS Sports Network.

Five Starting Notes
1 – Navy's senior day ceremony on Saturday will start at 3:30 p.m.  Since rosters became available with the 1949-50 season, the only senior class that is larger than the eight in the Class of 2023 is the Class of 1964 which had nine.
2 – Navy will be either the No. 2 or 3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament.  EITHER a Navy win over Colgate OR a Lehigh loss at Boston U. gives the Mids the No. 2 seed.  A loss by the Mids AND a win by the Mountain Hawks gives the No. 3 seed to Navy.  No matter Navy's seed, the Mids will play host to a quarterfinal round game in the league tournament on March 2.
3 – This will be the seventh year in a row in which both Navy and Colgate are not playing in the first round of the league tournament.  They are the only two teams to not appear in a first round game during this span (2017-23).
4 – This year's Navy team is the third in school history to have both a five-game winning streak and a five-game losing streak in the same season (1987-88, 1993-94).  In each instance, the losing streak was first and the winning streak followed.
5 – Navy's six-straight league road wins is tied for the longest road winning streak within a single Patriot League season by the Mids.  Navy's longest league road winning streak to include multiple seasons is nine, with this year's run of six in a row tied for third.
