ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Saturday saw the Navy men's tennis team post a 1-1 record during a split-squad doubleheader as the Mids (5-5) won a 5-2 decision at home over Saint Joseph's (0-1) and lost a 7-0 decision at James Madison (3-2).

James Madison 7, Navy 0
The Dukes won each of the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. James Madison would go on to win four straight-set singles matches to secure the victory.  In the remaining two matches, Nathan Nguyen (Fr., McLean, Va.) lost a 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 match at No. 3 singles and Eric Liu (Jr., Canton, Mich.) fell, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-3), at the No. 6 flight.

Navy 5, Saint Joseph's 2
Navy earned wins at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles to claim the doubles point.  Luke Garner (So., Arnold, Md.) and Sasha Panyan (Jr., Lutherville, Md.) combined for a 6-2 win at the No. 1 flight while Christian Pumpelly (Sr., Atlanta, Ga.) and Gavin Segraves (Sr., Charlottesville, Va.) posted a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles.

Segraves then registered a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles to place Navy's second point on the board.  Pumpelly followed with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the No. 6 flight.  Garner earned the match-clinching fourth team point when he recorded a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles.

Navy's last point came courtesy of a 6-1, 6-4 victory by Herrick Legaspi (Fr., Sacramento, Calif.) at the No. 4 flight.

Up Next
Navy will close out its six-match weekend on Sunday with a home match against Wagner (9 a.m.) and a match at Youngstown State (10 a.m.).
