WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Tewaaraton Award announced additions to its watch list on Thursday afternoon and Navy women's lacrosse freshman
Ava Yovino (Parkland, Fla.) was named to the list. The lists include the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse.
Yovino becomes the sixth Midshipmen in program history to be named to the Tewaaraton Watch List, joining Erin Rawlick (2010), Jasmine DePompeo (2012, '13), Jenna Collins (2018), Kelly Larkin (2018, '19, '20), and Nicole Victory (2021).
Entering the weekend, Yovino ranks No. 1 in the NCAA in assists (40), while ranking second in the nation in assists per game (3.64), points (67), and points per game (6.09). Aside from leading the NCAA, Patriot League, and team in assists and points, the freshman is second on the squad with 27 goals, while adding 29 draw controls, 11 ground balls, and 11 caused turnovers in her rookie campaign.
Yovino is 33 points shy of notching the ninth 100-point season in program history. She would become the sixth player to accomplish the feat, joining DePompeo (2013), Jenna Collins (2017, '18), Julia Collins (2018), Larkin (2017, '18, '19), and Rawlick (2010). The freshman is also on pace to become the 21st player in program history to record 100 or more point in a career.
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced in early May. The Tewaaraton Award recipients will be chosen after the conclusion of the collegiate lacrosse season.

About the Tewaaraton Foundation
Founded at the University Club of Washington, DC and first presented in 2001, the Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the preeminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. Endorsed by the Mohawk Nation Council of Elders and U.S. Lacrosse, the Tewaaraton Award symbolizes lacrosse's centuries-old roots in Native American heritage. The Tewaaraton Foundation ensures the integrity and advances the mission of this award. Each year, the Tewaaraton Award celebrates one of the six tribal nations of the Iroquois Confederacy – the Mohawk, Cayuga, Oneida, Onondaga, Seneca and Tuscarora – and presents two scholarships to students of Native American descent.
