Women's Schedule
Anticipation is high for fourth-year head coach
Tim Taylor and the Navy women's team with the 2023-24 season lying less than two months away. An extremely young and energetic program with 13 underclassmen on its roster, the Midshipmen will be looking to move up in the Patriot League this season.
First up for Navy is an 11-game non-conference slate that begins at home on Nov. 8 versus Susquehanna. After that opener, the Mids will head out on the road for a matchup against Penn State in State College, Pa. on Nov. 10. The following Wednesday, Nov. 15 marks the first of four-straight home games as Navy will play host to Mount St. Mary's (Nov. 15), Binghamton (Nov. 21), Quinnipiac (Nov. 25) and Abilene Christian (Nov. 26) in quick succession at Alumni Hall. The final two contests will be part of the 2023 Navy Classic. The fourth team participating in the annual event is local foe, Towson. The seventh and final game of November is a road tilt at Wagner on Nov. 30.
The Mids' non-conference schedule wraps up in December with a quartet of games intertwined between final exams and the holiday break. Navy alternates home and road matchups as it starts off with a showdown with William & Mary in Annapolis on Dec. 3 before heading north to Dartmouth on Dec. 8. Taking 11 days off to focus on final exams, Navy's last non-conference home game is Dec. 19 against Goucher. After reconvening following the holiday break, the Mids will round out non-league play on Dec. 30 at UAlbany.
Navy's run of Patriot League action kicks off three days later on Jan. 3 at Boston University. The team will play its second league road game in row as it will head to Hamilton, N.Y., for a Jan. 6 matchup at Colgate. The Mids' Patriot League home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 10 when they welcome the Holy Cross Crusaders to Annapolis. That matchup is the first of six at home over an eight-game span ranging from Jan. 10 to Feb. 3. In the middle of that heavy run of home games is the first edition of the 2024 Army-Navy rivalry on Jan. 20. The second half of that home-and-home series will go down in West Point on Feb. 10 with the 2024 Star on the line. Navy's stretch of Patriot League play then will be slanted toward the road as five of the program's final eight games will be played away from Alumni Hall, including the league finale on March 6 at Bucknell.
Each round of the Patriot League Tournament will once again be contested at the home of the higher-seeded team playing in each individual game. The tournament will be held March 9, first round; March 11, quarterfinals; March 14, semifinals; and March 17, final.
Men's Schedule
The men's team ended last year with an 18-13 overall record and tied for second place in the Patriot League's regular season with a record of 11-7. The Mids have compiled an overall record of 54-27 and a league record of 35-14 over the last three seasons.
This year's team opens the season with a Nov. 6 game at Campbell in what will be the first meeting of the teams since the 1984-85 season. The Mids then face Temple in the first game between the teams in over 40 years as part of the Veterans Classic doubleheader on Nov. 10. Navy next makes the program's first trip to California since the 2010-11 season for games Nov. 18 at UC San Diego and Nov. 20 at San Diego. The Mids defeated UCSD last year in the inaugural meeting of the teams and this year will play the Toreros for just the second time (1991-92 season).
Navy then returns home for games Nov. 29 vs. VMI and Dec. 3 against Coppin State. The Mids next play Dec. 5 at George Washington and Dec. 8 at Qunnipiac prior to the start of end-of-the-semester exams. The game against the Colonials will be the first in the series to be played on the George Washington campus since 1983, and Navy will play Quinnipiac for the first time since 2011. The Mids will close the non-league portion of their schedule with a Dec. 17 home game against Washington (Md.), a Dec. 21 game at Youngstown State –– winners of the 2023 Horizon League regular season title and NIT participant –– and a Dec. 30 home game against William & Mary.
Navy's Patriot League season begins with home games Jan. 3 against Boston U. and Jan. 6 against Colgate.
The Army-Navy Star Game, part of the Star Series presented by USAA, will be played Feb. 10 at West Point.
The dates for the Patriot League Tournament are March 5, first round; March 7, quarterfinals; March 10, semifinals; and March 13, final. Each game during the tournament will be played at the home of the higher-seeded team playing in the game.
