ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Brett Barron has been hired as the director of operations for the Navy men's basketball team, head coach Ed DeChellis announced today.

"We welcome Brett to our basketball family," said Navy head coach Ed DeChellis.  "He is a tireless worker who possess the skill set and experience we were looking for in a staff member.  Brett comes from a winning program that has won a national championship!  It is important to hire coaches with the expect to win attitude!   Brett will be involved with all aspects of our program."

"I am extremely grateful to coach DeChellis for the opportunity to join the Navy basketball family," said Barron.  "Being a member of this program and this institution is a tremendous honor. The United States Naval Academy is one of the best places in the world to work for many reasons, but what I am looking forward to the most is being in an environment with such high-quality people all working together under the shared mission to serve our country. Go Navy!"

Barron has spent the last three years as an assistant coach at Randolph-Macon.  Included among his areas of responsibility were serving as the director of recruiting and scouting, leading on- and off-court player development, coordinating social media and being the team's strength and conditioning coach.  The Yellow Jackets compiled an overall record of 74-3 and during his three seasons in Ashland, Va.  His tenure was highlighted by the 2021-22 team that posted an overall record of 33-1 and won the NCAA Division III National Championship.
