This Week
•     The Navy volleyball team (8-1) opens Patriot League play with a Friday night (7 p.m.) match at Loyola (5-5).

Last Week
•     Navy recorded a trio of sweeps in California as the Mids defeated Denver, UC San Diego and San Diego State.
•    The Mids first posted a 25-14, 25-22, 25-16 win over Denver.
•    Navy held advantages of 38-29 in kills, .337-.078 in hitting percentage, 8-2 in aces and 7-4 in blocks.
•    Jamie Llewellyn recorded 13 kills, a .375 attack percentage and three blocks.
•    Later that same day, Navy posted a 25-22, 25-19, 25-19 win over invite-host UC San Diego.
•    Navy's offense again played well as the Mids led the Tritons, 40-27 in kills and 9-5 in aces.
•    Jamie Llewellyn (12) and Jordan Llewellyn (9) combined for 21 of the team's kills.  Jordan added 12 digs and Jamie dropped in three aces.
•    Additionally, Anna Klemeyer posted seven kills and six blocks.
•    The weekend ended with Navy defeating San Diego State, 25-23, 26-24, 25-21.
•    SDSU led Navy in kills, 40-34, and hitting percentage, .260-.212, but the Mids led the Aztecs in aces, 9-3, and blocks, 9-4, and had fewer hitting, 13-15, and service 10-14, errors.
•    Jamie Llewellyn finished with 10 kills, three aces and two blocks.  Anna Klemeyer and Maggie Bodman each posted five kills and four blocks.  Doris Nelson recorded seven kills and three blocks.

Loyola Preview
•    Loyola brings a 5-5 record with it into Friday's league opener.
•    Included among their results this season, the Greyhounds posted a 3-1 win over West Virginia and dropped matches to Duke (3-1) and North Carolina (3-0).
•    Navy holds a 47-13-1 lead over Loyola in the all-time series between the teams.  This included a 17-8 edge in matches played at Loyola.
•    The Navy advantage in league regular season matches is 19-2, which included a 9-2 lead in league matches played in Baltimore.
•    The Greyhounds have defeated the Mids in Navy's last two trips to Baltimore, with Loyola winning in three sets in 2021 and in four sets in 2022.
•    In addition to the four-set Loyola win last season in Baltimore, Navy won a five-set match in Annapolis.
•    Four of the last seven matches in the series have been decided in fifth sets.  
•    Nine of the 16 sets played between the teams since the start of the 2021 season have been decided by five or fewer points.

Next Week
•    Navy will head back out on the road for league matches Friday at Colgate and Saturday at Holy Cross.

Non-League Recap
•    Navy has won seven-straight matches as part of an 8-1 record during the non-league season.
•    The Mids defeated teams such as:
^ Syracuse from the Atlantic Coast Conference
^ Utah Valley from the Western Athletic Conference
^ Maryland from the Big Ten Conference
^ Denver from the Summit League
^ UC San Diego from the Big West Conference
^ San Diego State from the Mountain West Conference

•    Navy has defeated an ACC team in back-to-back years (Notre Dame).
•    Navy's win against Maryland was the first in the series for the Mids and marked the first time they defeated a team when it was a member of the Big Ten.
•    Utah Valley ended the 2022 season ranked 95th in RPI.
•    Navy's lone loss in the opening portion of the season was a four-set loss to UCF.  The Knights posted a 28-2 record in 2022 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

•    Navy won eight non-league matches for the first time since posting an 8-5 record in 2018.  The Mids also tallied an 10-3 record in 2017.
•    Navy's seven-match winning streak was the first for the Mids since winning eight in a row in 2017.
