Rematch of 2022 League Final Starts Weekend Two-Match Trip for Volleyball

This Week
•     A stretch of six-straight matches away from Annapolis for the Navy volleyball team will conclude this weekend when the Mids (9-1, 1-0) play Friday at Colgate (7-4, 2-0) and Saturday at Holy Cross (3-8, 0-2).
•    Links for live ESPN+ video and live statistics from Friday's 6 p.m. match in Hamilton, N.Y. will be available at NavySports.com.  There will only be live stats available from Saturday's 3 p.m. match in Worcester, Mass.

Last Week
•     Navy began Patriot League play with a two-hour, four-set victory at Loyola.  The Mids posted a 25-22, 25-22, 18-25, 25-23 win over the Greyhounds to halt a two-match skid in the facility.
•    Navy's offense was limited to 38 kills and a .121 hitting percentage and its defense allowed Loyola to post 55 kills and a .189 hitting effort.
•    The Mids played a cleaner match, however, as they had fewer attack (27-21) and service errors (17-7), and also held a 14-7 edge in blocks.
•    Jordan Llewellyn tallied 15 kills, three aces, nine digs and four bocks.  Doris Nelson contributed four kills, three assists, three aces, 10 digs and three blocks.
•    Also aiding the defensive effort were Maggie Bodman with seven blocks, Anna Klemeyer with four blocks and Hannah Hoover with 16 digs.

Navy Streaks
•     Navy has won its last eight matches.  This ties the school record for the longest winning streak on the Division I level (since 1991).  The Mids also won eight matches in a row during the 2017 season.  
•    The longest winning streak in program history is 20 consecutive matches in 1986 when Navy competed on the NCAA Division II level.
•    Navy's 9-1 start to this season is tied for the best for the Mids as a Division I team.  Navy also began the 2004 season with a 9-1 record, which became 10-1 after the team's 11th match of the year.
•    The 1986 team started the year with a 20-0 record and the 1987 Mids began the season with a 10-0 record for the best starts in program history.

Navy Statistically
•    Through matches of Sept. 20:
^ Navy leads the Patriot League and ranks third nationally with an average of 2.48 aces per set.
^ Jamie Llewellyn stands first in the league and fourth nationally with an average of 0.72 aces per set.  Jordan Llewellyn's average of 0.55 aces per set is second in the league and 32nd nationally.
^ Jamie Llewellyn ranks first in the league and 32nd nationally with an average of 4.14 kills per set.

Colgate Preview
•    Colgate has posted an overall record of 8-4 this season.  The Raiders dropped matches to No. 22 Western Kentucky and No. 14 Penn State, and also recorded a win over West Virginia.
•    Colgate and Navy have each defeated UAlbany and Syracuse this season.
•    The Raiders opened Patriot League play last week with road wins at Bucknell (3-1) and Lehigh (3-0).

Series History
•    Colgate leads the all-time series with Navy, 45-18.  This includes a 24-5 advantage in matches played in Hamilton.
•    The Raiders also lead the Mids, 37-17, in Patriot League regular season matches.  Colgate has posted a 21-5 record against Navy in league matches played in Hamilton.
•    The teams have split the last 10 regular season matches (2017-19, 2021-22), with Colgate winning the last three regular season matches played in Hamilton.
•    Colgate also has recorded league tournament wins over Navy in Hamilton in 2021 (semifinal) and 2022 (final).
•    Last season's tournament final saw Colgate win sets one and two, Navy win sets three and four and the Raiders win the fifth set, 15-9.
•    The teams have played 14 matches and 56 sets against each other since the 2016 season.  Of those 56 sets, 19 have been decided by two points (34%), four have been determined by three points and 34 have been decided by no more than five points (61%).

Holy Cross Preview
•    Holy Cross heads into a Friday night match at home against American with a 3-8 overall record on the season. The Crusaders won three matches during the entire 2022 campaign.
•    Holy Cross has posted wins this year over Fairleigh Dickinson, Stonehill and Merrimack.
•    The Crusaders began their Patriot League season with losses on the road to Lafayette (four sets) and Lehigh (three sets).

Series History
•    Navy has posted an overall record if 44-13 against Holy Cross.  That includes an 18-8 record for the Mids in matches played in Worcester.
•    The Mids also hold a 41-13 advantage in Patriot League regular season matches against the Crusaders.  Navy leads, 18-8, in league regular season matches played at Holy Cross.
•    Navy has defeated Holy Cross on its last six trips to Worcester and has won the last 13 matches in the series overall.
•    The Mids and Crusaders have played nine sets during the Navy overall winning streak (44 sets in all) that have been decided by two points, with 20 sets (45%) determined by five or fewer points.

Next Week
•    Navy briefly returns home for matches Friday against Bucknell and Saturday against Lafayette.
•    Those are the only two matches in a 10-match stretch that are being played in Annapolis.
