BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – The Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference announced its weekly award winners and freshman goalkeeper Ryan Munch was selected as Rookie of the Week for his performance over the weekend. The freshman tallied 38 saves in three games, including a season-high 20 stops in the Mids' sudden-death overtime game against Bucknell.
 
Munch helped lead Navy to a 2-1 record on the week including a pair of overtime victories. Navy was edged 13-12 on the road against George Washington before returning home for overtime wins against Mount St. Mary's (W, 15-12) and Bucknell (W, 14-13).
 
Munch opened the weekend with four saves against GW, but followed that performance with 14 stops in an overtime victory against the Mount. Against the Bison, he worked a complete game at goal, picking up his second win in as many days. The freshman recorded 20 saves between the posts, including six during the overtime periods. Munch was able to deflect three penalty shots, including one in extra time.
 
His 20 saves were three shy of tying the Navy school record that was set by All-American Caden Capobianco ('24) against George Washington in 2021.
 
Navy is set for another trio of MAWPC games this weekend. The Mids host No. 2 Fordham (Saturday, Nov. 2 – 6:00 p.m.) and Wagner (Sunday, Nov. 3 – 10:00 a.m.) at Lejeune Hall before making the short trip to Baltimore to take on Johns Hopkins (Sunday, Nov. 3 – 3:00 p.m.) to close out the weekend. The Midshipmen's home games will be streamed on the Navy Athletics YouTube Channel.
