•    William & Mary finished the 2023-24 season with an overall record of 10-23 record and placed 13th in the 14-team Coastal Athletic Association with a 4-14 record.
•    The Tribe placed seventh 2024-25 CAA Preseason Poll.
•    William & Mary lost its last game prior to Christmas, a 90-70 defeat at VCU.
•    The Tribe have posted a 4-0 record in home games, a 0-6 record in road games and has split the team's two neutral site games.

Series History
•    Navy and William & Mary first met on Dec. 17, 1927.  The Mids registered a 48-20 victory in the inaugural game played in Annapolis.
•    Navy holds a 43-19 advantage in the series.
•    The Mids also lead the Tribe, 12-10, in games played in Williamsburg.  This includes an 11-10 record in games played in Kaplan Arena.

Navy in the CAA
•    Navy was a founding member of the Colonial Athletic Association, which became the Coastal Athletic Association last year.

•    The Mids shared the 1985 CAA regular season title and won it outright in 1986 and '87.
•    Navy played in three-straight conference tournament title games (1984-86), winning the 1985 and '86 editions of the event to advance to the NCAA Tournament in both seasons. The '86 team reached the Elite Eight.

•    First-year William & Mary head coach Brian Earl has split his two previous games against Navy.  His Cornell teams first defeated Navy, 61-50, on Dec. 30, 2018, in Ithaca, N.Y., then lost a 72-61 decision on Nov. 26, 2019, in Annapolis.

A Look Back (Coppin State 68, Navy 60)
•    Navy was held to its lowest point total of the season in  a 68-60 loss at Coppin State on Dec. 21.
•    There were six ties and seven lead changes in the first half, which ended with Coppin State on a 6-0 run to take a 28-22 lead at the break.
•    The Mids dug a hole for themselves at the start of the second half as they fell behind 36-27 and 48-35.
•    Navy drew to within 48-44 only to soon trail 57-46.  
•    Turnovers hurt the Mids as they committed 20 turnovers which led to 24 Coppin State points.  The Eagles turned the ball over 14 times, which led to 11 Navy points.
•    Austin Benigni scored 23 points.

•    Navy begins Patriot League play Jan. 2 when the Mids play host to American.

Points Per Game Highs and Lows
•    This year's Mids are scoring at a higher average than previous Ed DeChellis-coached Navy teams (71.8 ppg).
•    Navy also is allowing opponents to scorer at a higher rate than other teams during the DeChellis era (73.1 ppg).

The Flying Mids
•    Navy is trying to play at a faster pace this season than in the past.
•    Using the adjusted tempo statistic (possessions per 40 minutes) on KenPom.com, the Mids are playing at their fastest pace during the Ed DeChellis-coached era (69.0 possessions a game, 153rd in the NCAA).

Missing Home
•    Navy's Nov. 25 game against Washington (Md.) was the last home game for Navy in the 2024 calendar year.  The Mids will not return to Alumni Hall until they open Patriot League play on Jan. 2 against American.
•    Navy will go 38 days between home games, which is the second-longest span between home games in program history.  It also marks the 12th time in school history in which Navy will go at least 30 days between home games.
•     It also is tied for third for the most consecutive regular season games played away from Annapolis.
•     Once Patriot League play begins, Navy will travel the second-most one-way miles for weekday regular season games this season.
•    Conversely, the Mids will travel the third fewest one-way miles for weekend league games.

Navy Bench Has Been a Strength
•    The Mids have received an average of at least 20 points a game from their bench since the start of the 2020-21 campaign.
•    Navy ranked fourth in the Patriot League and 149th nationally in bench scoring during the 2023-24 season (20.06 ppg).
•    This year, the reserves scored 45 of the team's 86 points against Penn and 39 of 63 points against Elon.

•    Aidan Kehoe moved into the regular rotation during Navy's Feb. 21, 2024, game at Loyola and made his first start in the next game against Holy Cross.
•    He had totaled 26 points (1.0 ppg) and 40 rebounds (1.5 rpg) in 26 career games prior to taking to the floor against the Greyhounds.
•    Since then, he has totaled 160 points (8.9 ppg) and 139 rebounds (7.7 rpg).

•    Jordan Pennick had appeared in 16 games prior to Navy's Feb. 17, 2024, game at Boston U., and totaled 26 points (1.6 ppg) and 18 rebounds (1.1 rpg).
