Fermo gave the Mids a 2-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-2 victory to start singles action, defeating Charlotte Bell on the No. 6 court, but GW notched a 6-4, 6-1 win when Skeene beat Jordaan in the No. 5 spot. Johns then earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Madison Lee at the No. 3 position and

Coaches' Comments
"Both these teams are much better than their records indicate, both having started out with very tough early-season matches. The scores don't show the competitive nature of both contests, as these were two very hard-fought matches. We did a good job in most matches of winning some very close no-add games. Our doubles teams are making good stride and it showed today. After getting the doubles point, I think we did a good job of pushing forward to maintain the momentum we generated. This coming week will present challenges, too. Good luck to the ladies this week, as they tackle six-week exams and also prep for our upcoming matches."
-Head Coach Keith Puryear
"I am proud of our ladies for staying resilient and focused. I was really pleased with our doubles play in both matches. I think we did a good job in singles as well, navigating the momentum switches and really staying focused on what we needed to do shot-by-shot, point-to-point. As always, there are things we need to continue to improve but I do like the fact that the things we have been working on are being used in match play."
-Associate Head Coach Alessandra Pedergnana
