ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Winning its last three matches, the Navy women's tennis team is set to head to Orlando, Fla., this week for four spring-break matches at the USTA National Campus.
Opening the three-day stretch, the Midshipmen will face No. 40 Princeton (8-3) at 11:30 a.m. on Monday before squaring off with Butler (10-6) at 3 p.m. later that day. After a day off, the Mids then return on Wednesday for an 11:30 a.m. match with Marist (2-10) and a 6:30 p.m. contest against Marquette (2-12).
Tannenbaum Chasing Records
No. 1 singles player and junior
Emily Tannenbaum has been near-dominant this spring, posting a 12-0 singles record in dual matches and entering Monday on a 12-match singles winning streak dating back to the fall … Now sitting alone at third in program history with 79 career singles wins, Tannenbaum needs 10 more to catch Amanda Keller for second … Sitting third in program history with 139 career combined wins as well, Tannenbaum needs 12 more to catch Erin Snook for second … With 26 singles wins this season, Tannenbaum is three shy of matching her program-record 29 singles victories from last season … With 30 career victories as the Mids' top singles player, Tannenbaum needs three more wins at the No. 1 singles spot to match Keller for the career program record … Tannenbaum is also one doubles win away from matching Snook's 61 doubles victories that ranks fifth in program history … With her 13-straight wins, Tannenbaum is now tied for the second-longest singles winning streak in program history and is two wins away from catching Kacey Moore's program-record 15-straight singles wins.
Johns Catching Fire

Samantha Johns has been a force for the Mids recently, as a seven-match singles winning streak boosted her spring record to 10-2, including a perfect 6-0 record at the No. 2 singles position … Johns is now 19-8 in singles play on the season and has a 15-11 mark in doubles action, finding a place on the No. 1 pairing alongside sophomore

Puryear Reaches Another Milestone
Just weeks after achieving one milestone, head coach
Keith Puryear reached another career milestone with the March 2 win over Drexel … After notching his 200th home win with the Mids on Feb. 17, Puryear earned his 500th victory as a women's head coach by defeating Drexel, as he collected 215 wins as the UMBC women's coach and now has 287 victories at Navy … Including his time as UMBC's men's coach, Puryear now has 730 career coaching wins.
