BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League announced its weekly women's lacrosse awards on Monday afternoon and Navy junior Alyssa Daley was selected as the conference's Defensive Player of the Week. It is the sixth Defensive Player of the Week award for Navy this season and the first of Daley's career.
 
Daley, who is a draw control specialist, finished the game with a career-high 17 draws, helping Navy outdraw Holy Cross, 23-to-3, en route to a 13-9 victory on the road. She limited the number of possessions that the Crusaders could have, while increasing the Mids' time of possession.
 
The junior won three draws in the first quarter, six in the second, and four in each the third and fourth quarters, while limiting Holy Cross to just one draw win in the first, second, and third quarter and none in the fourth.
 
Daley fell one draw shy of tying the Navy single-game record of 18, originally set by Reagan Roelofs ('22) in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals against Army back in 2019. The 23 draws as a team tied the Mids' season-high, which they originally set at Mount St. Mary's. Additionally, the 23 draw controls tied for the 10th most draws in a game in Navy history.
 
In addition to the 17 individual draw wins, Daley was able to direct the draw out to teammates Emily Messinese and Mikayla Williams on the wing who had three draw control wins each.
 
Up next, Navy hosts rival Army in the annual Star Game, which is part of the overall Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network and opening draw is slated for 4:15 p.m. at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
