Navy's Presser Named CSC Academic All-American

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Recent Navy graduate Braden Presser added another achievement to his impressive all-around career this week as he was named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) First-Team Academic All-American for men's track & field / cross country.

Presser is a first-time honoree and the ninth Mid in program history to garner first-team recognition (11 total awards). Sean Casey was the last to do so in 2022 when he received the second of his two back-to-back awards.

The native of Liberty, Mo., finished his academic career with a 3.94 cumulative grade-point average as a mathematics major. Presser was named to his second-straight CSC Academic All-District Team in June.

In the field, Presser became the second athlete in team history to earn at least three All-America honors. This year, he received second-team honors in the javelin with a throw of 69.15m (226' 10"). At the NCAA Championship, his distance placed him 16th overall in the event at the meet. He previously earned All-America accolades in the javelin in 2022 (honorable mention) and 2023 (first team).

The only Mid to have earned more All-America awards than Presser is Leo Williams. He totaled six All-America honors in the high jump at the 1981, '82 and '83 indoor and outdoor national championships.

Presser was one of four Midshipen to compete at the recent U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Eugene, Ore. He recorded a javelin throw of 64.38 meters (211'3") at the meet.

The Navy athletic program has now totaled five Academic All-America awards this year, with four coming from the track & field / cross country programs. The at-large sports awards will be announced later this month.
