Navy Basketball Schedules Announced, Season Tickets Now On Sale

ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– The 2024-25 schedules for the Navy men's and women's basketball teams were announced today with a minimum of 28 days of basketball slated to be played in Alumni Hall.

** Men's Games Only (does not include Veterans Classic) –– $100 / ticket for adults, $75 / ticket for youth and senior citizens
** Women's Games Only –– $100 / ticket for adults, $75 / ticket for youth and senior citizens

Tickets for the 11th edition of the men's Veterans Classic remain on sale through the Navy Ticket Office by clicking HERE.  Lower level reserved seats are $40 / ticket and upper level general admission seats are $25 / ticket.  This year's doubleheader features VCU vs. Boston College and Harvard vs. Navy.

Boston College compiled an overall record of 20-16 last season.  It was the most victories for the program since it tallied 21 wins during the 2010-11 campaign.  Last season was capped by the Eagles advancing to the postseason for the first time in six years and winning a first-round game in the NIT for the first time since 2011.

VCU posted a 24-14 record last season and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NIT.   The Rams have compiled 92 wins and made two NCAA Tournament (2021, '23) and two NIT (2022, '24) appearances over the last four seasons.

Harvard has posted a winning percentage of at least .500 in 14 of the last 15 campaigns and in all but two of head coach Tommy Amaker's 16 competitive seasons (the Ivy League did not play any games during the 2020-21 season).  Amaker, the winningest coach in program history, has guided Harvard to at least a share of seven Ivy League regular season titles, four NCAA Tournament appearances and three trips to the NIT.

Single game tickets for the Navy basketball season will go on sale at a later date.

The television schedule for both teams will be announced later this fall.

Women's Schedule
Coming off one of the biggest turnarounds in NCAA Division I last year with a 13-win differential and a conclusion to the regular season that saw the team win three-straight league games and finish just one game out of second place and two out of first place, fifth-year head coach Tim Taylor and the Navy women's basketball team eagerly awaits the 2024-25 season that lies ahead.

An 11-game non-conference schedule will prepare the Mids for the Patriot League play. That slate begins Nov. 4 with a road tilt at Rider.  Navy's first home contest will come two days later with a game versus Bryn Athyn (Nov. 6).  The following week, a similar road-home dynamic shows up as the team will travel to Iona on Nov. 12 before returning to Alumni Hall for a Nov. 14 contest versus Wagner to conclude the two teams' home-and-home series that began in 2023.

Navy's fifth non-conference game promises to be a special experience as the Mids will go head-to-head with the Radford Highlanders in a neutral-site meeting at the historic Greenbriar Resort in White Sulfur Springs, W.Va., on Nov. 17.  The final non-conference road game for Navy is scheduled for the following Sunday, Nov. 23 with a trip to Longwood.

The 2024 Navy Classic highlights the second half of the Mids' non-Patriot League slate.  This year's two-day event features three teams that participated in 2024 postseason play with Maryland, George Mason and Toledo coming into town over the weekend of Nov. 30 (Navy vs. Toledo) and Dec. 1 (Navy vs. George Mason).  The remainder of December will see the Mids play host to Dartmouth (Dec. 4), Stetson (Dec. 7) and Delaware (Dec. 19).

Patriot League action tips off for Navy with back-to-back road contests at American on Jan. 2 and at Lafayette on Jan. 5.  A pair of home tilts versus Holy Cross (Jan. 8) and Loyola (Jan. 11) dots the second week for the Mids.

Navy's initial matchup versus service academy rival Army will be a road bout on Sunday, Jan. 26 in West Point before the teams return for round two in Annapolis with the 2025 Star on the line at Alumni Hall on Saturday, Feb. 15.

The final home regular season Patriot League game before the conference tournament is a Wednesday, March 5 matchup against Boston University.  The 2025 Patriot League Tournament begins the ensuing Saturday, March 8 with a pair of first-round bouts.  The rest of the schedule consists of quarterfinals on Monday, March 10, semifinals on Thursday, March 13 and the finals on Sunday, March 16.

Men's Schedule
Navy's 2023-24 team was one of the youngest in the country with only one senior and four juniors on the roster.  The Mids ended the season with an overall record of 13-18 and compiled an 8-10 mark in the Patriot League.  Navy returns four starters and over 90 percent of its scoring and rebounding from last year's team that took a five-game winning streak into its Patriot League Tournament quarterfinal round game at Boston University.

Navy opens the 2024-25 season with a Nov. 4 game at Saint Joseph's.  The Hawks, led by former Navy head coach Billy Lange, produced a 21-14 record last season and advanced to the NIT.  The season opener marks the first game to be played between the teams since the 1959 NCAA Tournament.

The Mids play their next five games at home, a stretch that starts with their facing Harvard in the Veterans Classic.  The teams last met during the 2000-01 season.  Games against Rider (Nov. 12), Campbell (Nov. 17) and Quinnipiac (Nov. 19) follow.  Navy plays its final non-league home game of the year against Washington (Md.) on Nov. 25.

The Mids will head out on the road for their next seven games.  Navy begins this span by taking part in the Cathedral Classic at Philadelphia's historic Palestra against Penn (Nov. 29), Elon (Nov. 30) and Maine (Dec. 1).  The Mids remain on the road for games at NJIT (Dec. 7) and at Virginia Tech (Dec. 15).  The Hokies advanced to the second round of last year's NIT and this year's game between the teams is the first in the series to be played in Blacksburg since the 1963-64 campaign.

After a break in the schedule for final exams, the Mids close the 2024 calendar year with games at Coppin State (Dec. 21) and at William & Mary (Dec. 29).

Navy's Patriot League season begins with home games Jan. 2 against American and Jan. 5 against Lafayette.

The Army-Navy Star Game, part of the Star Series presented by USAA, will be played Feb. 15 in Annapolis.

The dates for the Patriot League Tournament are March 4, first round; March 6, quarterfinals; March 9, semifinals; and March 12, final.  Each game during the tournament will be played at the home of the higher-seeded team playing in the game.
