Five Starting Notes
1 – Austin Benigni became the 27th Mid to score 1,000 career points when he attained the milestone during Navy's Jan. 18 game at Bucknell.  He is the seventh Mid under Ed DeChellis to score 1,000 career points.
2 – The road team in the Navy vs. Boston series has posted a 14-6 record in league regular season games.  Both the Mids and the Terriers have compiled 7-3 records as the road team in such games.
3 – However, the 2024 season marked the first time the home team won both games in the series.  Boston also defeated Navy in Case Gym in a league tournament quarterfinal round game, giving the home team three victories on the year.
4 – The three 2024 games were decided by a total of 20 points.
5 – The team winning the rebounding statistic in Navy vs. Boston games has lost four of the last five games.

Game Information
•    Navy returns home for just one game this week, a Wednesday night tilt against Boston U. at 7 p.m.
•    The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and both WNAV and WFED will carry the game on the radio.
•    Joe Miller and Mike Heary will have the simulcast.

Attending the Game
•    Only those vehicles driven by someone with a Department of Defense (DoD)-approved identification card will be allowed onto the USNA.
•    Fans without DoD approved vehicle access to the USNA must park outside of The Yard.  The simplest way to do this is to park ($10 per vehicle) at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (550 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, Md., 21401).  Enter the blue / west parking lot through gate 5 off of Taylor Avenue.  The free fan shuttle bus will leave from and return to the Blue Angel jet.  Fan shuttle bus hours begin one hour before tip and ends one hour after the conclusion of the game.
•    Fans also can park downtown and walk through the gate one visitors center (52 King George St., Annapolis, MD, 21402) or gate eight.
•    Whether a visitor rides the shuttle bus or walks through one of the USNA gates, everyone ages 18 and over must have a valid picture ID (i.e.: State issued driver's license, student I.D., or a government issued passport). Visitors ages 17 and younger who do not have a valid picture ID must be accompanied by an adult. 

About Boston U. 
•    The Terriers head into the game with an overall record of 9-10 and a Patriot League mark of 3-3.  
•    Boston has posted a 2-7 record in true road games this season, a mark that includes a 0-3 record in league road games.
•    The Terriers lost a 68-62 decision at Army on Saturday.

Series History
•    The Navy-Boston series dates back to the 1959 NCAA Tournament.  The Terriers defeated the Mids, 62-55 in overtime, in a regional semifinal round game played in Charlotte, N.C.
•    The teams had just one additional meeting prior to the Terriers joining the Patriot League.  Boston won a 75-54 game during the 1988-89 season in Santa Clara, Calif.
•    Boston leads the all-time series with Navy, 14-11.  This includes a 7-4 advantage in games played in Annapolis.
•    The teams have split the 20 previous league regular season games, with Boston leading the Mids, 7-3, in those games played in Annapolis.

On This Date
•    Navy has posted a 15-11 record in games played on Jan. 22.  This includes a 3-5 record in Patriot League games.
•    Navy defeated Boston U., 60-58 in overtime, on Jan. 22, 2020.

Against Massachusetts
•    Navy has totaled a 66-73 record in games played against opponents located in Massachusetts.

A Look Back (Bucknell 73, Navy 69)
•    Bucknell held a seven-point lead in the first half, but Navy took a 36-27 lead at halftime.  The margin grew to 39-27 in the opening minutes of the second half.
•    Bucknell took a 51-47 lead with just under 10 minutes remaining.  The Mids tied the game at 51-51, but the Bison took a 58-51 lead.
•    It soon was a 69-61 Bucknell advantage with two minutes left, but Austin Benigni had a game-tying three-point attempt from the top of the key with 3 seconds remaining that missed the mark.
•    Bucknell shot 60 percent from the floor in the second half and Navy shot 36 percent.
•    Benigni totaled 23 points and five assists.  Aidan Kehoe (11 rebounds) and Donovan Draper (10 caroms) each missed a double-double by one point.

A Look Ahead 
•    Navy heads to West Point this weekend for a Sunday game at Army.
•    The teams will tip at 3:30 p.m. with the game being televised on the CBS Sports Network.
•    The Star Game between the teams will be played Feb. 15 in Annapolis.

Navy by President
•    The Mids previously compiled a 58-44 (.569) record during Donald Trump's first term as President.
•    Navy has compiled a 15-6 record in the first game of a new Presidential administration.

Benigni Scores 1,000th Point
•     Austin Benigni became the 27th Mid to score 1,000 career points during Navy's Jan. 18 game at Bucknell.
•    He reached the milestone in his 81st career game.  That ranks him 12th for the fewest games to score 1,000 points.
•    13 Mids who have played all four seasons during the program's Patriot League era have scored 1,000 points.
•    Ed DeChellis has now coached seven Navy players who have scored 1,000 career points.
•    The last to do so was John Carter Jr., on Jan. 22, 2022.

Kehoe's Double-Double Run 
•    Aidan Kehoe saw his streak of double-doubles end at five when he registered six points and 11 rebounds Jan. 15 against Colgate.
•    The last Mid to have as many as five-straight double-doubles was David Robinson, who had 15 in a row (last 12 games of 1985-86, first 3 games of 1986-87).
•    Kehoe is tied for first in the Patriot League and tied for 41st in the NCAA with six double-doubles this year.
•    He has missed a double-double by one rebound in three additional games.

Kehoe Successful From the Floor 
•    Aidan Kehoe leads the Patriot League and ranks 13th in the NCAA in field goal percentage through games of Monday, Jan. 20.

The Flying Mids
•    Navy is trying to play at a faster pace this season.
•    Using the adjusted tempo statistic (possessions per 40 minutes) on KenPom.com, the Mids are playing at their fastest pace during the Ed DeChellis-coached era (67.5 possessions a game, 182nd in the NCAA).
•    Boston U. is averaging 62.2 possessions a game to rank 357th.

Navy Bench Has Been a Strength
•    The Mids have received an average of at least 20 points a game from their bench since the start of the 2020-21 campaign.
•    Navy ranked fourth in the Patriot League and 149th nationally in bench scoring during the 2023-24 season (20.06 ppg).
•    This year, the reserves scored 45 of the team's 86 points against Penn and 39 of 63 points against Elon.
•    The Mids are fifth in the league and 237th in the NCAA this year with an average of 19.7 bench points per game.

Navy Good Again on the Offensive Boards 
•    Navy has been very good over the last number of years at winning the offensive rebound margin.
•    The Mids ranked first in the Patriot League and 40th nationally during the 2023-24 season with an average of 12.45 offensive rebounds per game.
•    Navy stands first in the league and 110th nationally with an average of 11.68 offensive boards a game this year.
•    Aidan Kehoe (3.53 OR/G, 1st PL, 18th NCAA) and Donovan Draper (2.42 OR/G, 4th PL) rank among the league leaders in offensive rebounds.

At the FT Line – Austin Benigni / 2024-25 
•    Benigni ranks first in the Patriot League and 18th in the NCAA for free throws made (99).
•    He ranks second in the league and 42nd in free throws attempted (117). 
•    He also ranks second in the league and 92nd nationally with a free throw percentage of 84.6 percent.
•    Benigni ranks fifth at Navy during the Patriot League era (1991-92 to present) and 21st in program history for the highest career free throw attempts per game average with 379 attempts in 81 games (4.68 fta/g).

Kehoe Lately 
•    Aidan Kehoe moved into the regular rotation during Navy's Feb. 21, 2024, game at Loyola and made his first start in the next game against Holy Cross.
•    He had totaled 26 points (1.0 ppg) and 40 rebounds (1.5 rpg) in 26 career games prior to taking to the floor against the Greyhounds.
