ANNAPOLIS, Md.—Sophomore linebacker MarcAthony Parker has been named the Naval Academy Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for his play in Navy's (4-0, 3-0 in the American) 21-13 win over Rice on Saturday.
Parker recorded a career-high 13 tackles and two tackles for a loss in the win over the Owls. The Navy defense dominated play throughout, holding Rice to 120 yards of rushing on 39 carries. The Owls entered the game averaging 246.3 rushing yards per game, 15th best in the FBS. Rice managed just two yards of total offense in the first quarter and 51 yards in the first half.
Navy, off to a 4-0 start in back-to-back years for the first time since 1978-79, plays host to Air Force (1-3) in the first leg in the battle for the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy on Saturday at a sold-out Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12 noon and the game will be televised by CBS and broadcast on the Navy Radio Network.
