NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) announced its weekly accolades and Navy's
Jake Berger was recognized as Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in the Midshipmen's victory over Mansfield.
Berger helped lead Navy to a 50-7 victory over Mansfield on Friday night at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The sophomore wide receiver was responsible for a pair of touchdowns, finishing with seven receptions for 128 yards and a receiving TD, while adding a special team's touchdown.
On the opening kickoff, Navy's
Tucker Opdahl forced a Mansfield fumble that Berger recovered and ran 30 yards into the end zone to put the Mids up 7-0 just seven seconds into the game.
Berger added a 50-yard touchdown reception for the longest catch of his short career. In addition to the 50-yard reception, the wide receiver also added catches of 28, 19, 13, nine, six, and three yards.
