ANNAPOLIS, Md. // Senior golf captain
Jack Tarzy (Medford, N.J.) has been named the Naval Academy Athletic Association Athlete of the Week after capturing his third individual victory of the year last week, sharing individual medalist honors at the Nassau Intercollegiate.
Tarzy, who entered the day six shots back from the leader, shot a 4-under par 66 in the final round to clinch co-individual medalist honors, while Navy as a team tied host LIU and Iona for eighth in the tournament. He shot a 2-over par 212 (73-73-66) and shared individual medalist honors with Utah Valley's Paxton Maxwell (69-73-70). Tarzy was also named the Patriot League Men's Golfer of the Week for the second time this fall for his performance at the Nassau Intercollegiate.
Tarzy is believed to be the first Navy golfer to earn medalist honors in three-consecutive tournaments (The Goat, Commander-In-Chief's Cup, Nassau Intercollegiate). The three wins by Tarzy this season are the most by a Navy golfer in a season since Billy Hurley won 6 tournaments his senior year in 2003-04. Meanwhile, he is the first Navy golfer to win 3 tournaments over a career since Charlie Musto won three - 2 in 2017-18 and 1 in 2019-20.
Navy closed out its fall season earlier this week at the Florida Atlantic Invitational, but will be looking to pick up where it left off when it kicks off the spring portion of its ledger on Feb. 16 at the Watersound Invitational in Panama City, Fla.
