Men’s Tennis Closes Fall Slate with Successful Showing

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy had five singles players tally 2-0 records and two doubles teams post 3-0 records during the Navy Invite men's tennis tournament held this weekend in Annapolis.

Navy as a team compiled records of 21-11 in singles and 13-6 in doubles against opponents from Binghamton, Bucknell, James Madison, Norfolk State and Saint Joseph's this weekend.  The three-day event that concluded Sunday closed the fall schedule for the Mids.

Aniketh Ayinala, Ethan Garcia, Zach Giertz, Tommy Kim and Steve Nguyen all compiled 2-0 records in singles.

Jason Kim and Charlie Spencer were one of the two doubles teams to win three matches this weekend.  The duo beat Esteve Agusti and Francisco Sinopoli by the score of 6-2 on Friday's opening day of the tournament.  The pair then defeated Andre Ajed and Harry Liao by the score of 6-3 and Bucknell's Tyler Bush and Will Robinson by a 6-1 count on Sunday.

The second undefeated doubles tandem for Navy was Ayinala and Lachlan Buckingham.  The Mids initially recorded a 6-4 victory over Zach Fleishman and Gur Libal from James Madison, then defeated Norfolk State's Szymon Janzen and Przemyslaw Nikolajuk by the score of 6-3.  Ayinala and Buckingham also won a 6-0 match over Binghamton's Filipe Costa and Giannis Sakkas.

Navy's spring season will begin January 16 with a pair of matches at Penn.
