Andrew Schug Named CSC First-Team Academic All-American

Navy Men’s Soccer Claims an Academic All-American for Second-Straight Season

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Following a banner four-year career on the field and in the classroom, Navy men's soccer senior Andrew Schug was named to the 2025 Academic All-America First Team, the College Sports Communicators organization announced Tuesday.

A three-time CSC Academic All-District selection for the Midshipmen, Schug becomes the ninth player in program history to earn Academic All-America distinction and the first Navy player to make the Academic All-America First Team since Matt Nocita in 2021. This also marks the second-straight season that Navy has garnered an Academic All-America nod after Charlie Kriel was named a third-team honoree in 2024.

Named Academic All-Patriot League for the third-consecutive year as well, Schug made 13 starts over 18 appearances this season for the Midshipmen, tallying a team-leading four goals and an assist while registering 37 shots over 1,071 minutes. Putting up a four-game point streak from Aug. 21 through Sept. 1, the senior forward also tallied the Mids' opening score against Longwood on Oct. 21. A Third-Team All-Patriot League pick in 2023, the forward notched 11 goals in 55 career games, tallying 24 points over 3,054 minutes.

Academically, Schug holds a 3.97 grade-point average while majoring in robotics and control engineering in the Academy's honors program, and has named to the Superintendent's List five times and Commandant's List six times. Schug also earned Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection three times.

Criteria for the CSC Academic All-America teams requires a student-athlete be at least a sophomore and a key contributor to their team and have attained a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average.

Formerly known as the College Sports Information Directors of America, the College Sports Communicators organization has sponsored the Academic All-America program since 1952.
