FAIRFAX, Va. – Navy earned two individual titles and six total placewinners at the Patriot Open on Sunday, hosting by George Mason at the GMU Field House in Fairfax, Va., as Andrew Binni and Dylan Elmore led the Midshipmen with championship performances.
 
Binni won the 125-pound bracket with a 4-0 record. He opened the tournament with a technical fall over Alex Esposito of Rider and followed with decisions over Cooper Foster of Appalachian State and Abram Cline of Maryland. He secured the title with a 7-2 win over teammate Jack Bergmann in the final.
 
Elmore claimed the 165-pound championship after a 4-0 day. He earned bonus-point wins in the quarterfinals and semifinals and sealed the title with a 7-4 decision over Cody Walsh of Drexel.
 
Jack Bergmann placed second at 125 pounds, as he began with a fall over Gunner Chambers of George Mason in 29 seconds and added decision wins over Tyler Garvin of Maryland and Ben Monn of George Mason. His only loss came in the final against Binni.
 
Gage Yackee advanced to the final at 184 pounds with three-straight major decisions over Rutgers' Damian Weaver (15-1), unaffiliated Vincenzo Lavalle (8-0) and Morgan State's Kingsley Menifee (11-2). He closed the day with a 6-2 loss to Malachi DuVall of George Mason in the championship bout.
 
Brendan Ferretti placed third at 133 pounds thanks to a fast start with two first-period falls. In the semifinals, he dropped a 10-4 decision to Isaiah Cortez of Spartan Combat RTC, but he answered with an 8-0 major decision over Drew Heethuis of Princeton for third place.
 
Payton Thomas added another third-place finish at 197 pounds. He earned a major decision in his opener and followed with a 4-1 win over Logan Eller of Appalachian State in the quarterfinals. After a semifinal loss to 16th-ranked Sonny Sasso of Virginia Tech, he finished third by forfeit.
 
Adam Heckman placed sixth at 141 pounds. He opened with a 7-1 win over Eli Cramer of VMI and later added sudden-victory wins over Sebastian Ortega of Princeton and Mason Gibson of Rutgers before falling to Ryan Kennedy of Maryland in the placement match.
 
James Latona (149) earned a major decision in his opening match then recorded wins over teammate Julian Everitt and Michael Pizzuto of Maryland in the consolation rounds. His tournament ended in the sixth-place match which resulted in a no-contest against Christopher Martino (Princeton) with both wrestlers sharing sixth place.
 
Jonathan Ley rounded out Navy's placewinners with a sixth-place finish at 157 pounds. He edged Rocco Camillaci of Princeton in his opener, then earned two more decision wins in the consolation bracket following a quarterfinal loss before a no contest ended his tournament.
