Five Starting Notes
1 – This is the fourth time in the last five full seasons in which Navy and Boston U. are the top-two teams in the Patriot League for the most offensive rebounds in league games. The lowest either team has been ranked in this span is third.
2 – The Mids and the Terriers have met in the Patriot League Tournament three times in the last four years in which a full season has been played (2020, 2022, 2024).
3 – Navy ranks 196th in the NCAA with an adjusted tempo rate of 66.8 possessions a game.  Boston U. ranks 356th (out of 364 teams) with 62.2 possessions a game.  There were 60 possessions in the first game between the teams.
4 – Navy will be playing its fourth game in a fourth different state over the last 11 days on Wednesday night (New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Massachusetts).
5 – Carnegie Johnson became the fifth Mid to score at least 20 points in a game this season when he scored a career-high 21 points Saturday vs. Bucknell. The Navy high for the most Mids with a 20-point game during the Patriot League era is seven.

Game Information
•    Navy begins its third and final stretch of back-to-back road games of the league season when the Mids play Wednesday at Boston U. The tip from Case Gym is slated for 7 p.m.
•    The game will be streamed through ESPN+.
•    There will not be a WNAV broadcast of the game.

About Boston U.
•    Boston U. has posted an 11-12 overall record on the season.  The Terriers have compiled an 8-3 record in home games.
•    Boston U. has tallied a 5-5 record in league games.  The Terriers have posted a 5-0 record in home games and a 0-5 record in road games.
•    BU is coming off of a 69-67 loss at Loyola Saturday.
•    The Terriers are outscoring their opponents by 6.4 points a game at home in the league and are being outscored by 14.8 points per game on the road.

Series History
•    The Navy-Boston U. series dates back to the 1959 NCAA Tournament.  The Terriers defeated the Mids, 62-55 in overtime, in a regional semifinal round game played in Charlotte, N.C.
•    The teams had just one additional meeting prior to the Terriers joining the Patriot League.  Boston U. won a 75-54 game during the 1988-89 season in Santa Clara, Calif.
•    Boston U. leads the all-time series with Navy, 14-12.  The Mids lead the Terriers, 7-5, in games played in Boston, including a 7-3 record in Case Gym.
•    Navy defeated Boston U., 62-47, earlier this season in Annapolis to take an 11-10 lead in Patriot League regular season games played between the teams.  The Mids have posted a 7-3 record in such games played in Boston, including a 7-1 record in Case Gym.

Mids and Terriers Atop League in Off. Boards
•    Navy and Boston U. again rank toward the top of the Patriot League for the most offensive rebounds during league games.
•    However, the team grabbing more offensive rebounds in the last 14 Navy-Boston U. games has posted a 5-8 record (one tie).

On This Date
•    Navy has posted an 23-11 record in games played on Feb. 5.  This includes a 6-4 record in Patriot League games.
•    Navy lost a 61-48 decision to Boston U. in the lone previous game played between the teams on Feb. 5.  That game was played in 2014 in Annapolis.

Against Massachusetts
•    Navy has totaled a 67-73 record in games played in Massachusetts.  This includes a 9-8 record in games played in Boston.

In Massachusetts
•    Navy has totaled a 26-37 record in games played against opponents located in Massachusetts.

A Look Back (Bucknell 85, Navy 75)
•    Bucknell started the game 9-10 from the field and shot 75 percent (21-28) from the floor in the first half to take a 51-26 lead at the break.  Navy shot 34.5 percent (10-29) from the field in the opening half.
•    Navy had a three-point attempt that had it gone in would have made it an eight-point game with six minutes left.  
•    The Mids then drew to within seven points with two minutes remaining.  Bucknell was 9-12 from the foul line and 2-2 from the field the rest of the game.
•    Navy outscored Bucknell, 49-34, after halftime.
•    Austin Benigni and Carnegie Johnson each scored 21 points for the Mids.

A Look Ahead 
•    Navy returns to the road for a Saturday afternoon game at Lafayette (1 p.m.).

Pennick on a Good Run
•    Jordan Pennick has scored in double figures in each of Navy's last three victories.
•    He also has scored in double digits in four of Navy's five Patriot League wins this season.  Pennick scored nine points in Navy's league opening win against American.
•    Recently, he first totaled 13 points on 3-7 shooting from three-point range against Boston U.
•    Pennick then totaled a career-high 20 points in Navy's Jan. 26 game at Army.  He was 4-6 from three-point range and 5-8 from the floor in scoring 15 second-half points. 
•    He scored all 17 of his points in the second half Jan. 29 at Lehigh.  Pennick was 5-7 from three-point range and 6-8 from the floor in the second half.
•    He is averaging 14.3 points (57 total) and 4.3 rebounds a game (17) over the last four games.  Pennick is shooting 47.6 percent (20-42) from the floor and 45.1 percent (14-31) from three-point land in this span.
•    Navy as a team has been much more successful when Pennick scores in double figures.

The Flying Mids
•    Navy is trying to play at a faster pace this season.
•    Using the adjusted tempo statistic (possessions per 40 minutes) on KenPom.com, the Mids are playing at their fastest pace during the Ed DeChellis-coached era (66.8 possessions a game, 196th in the NCAA).
•    Boston U. is averaging 62.2 possessions a game to rank 356th (out of 364 team).

Missing Home
•    Navy is in the middle of playing seven road games in a span of 10 games from Jan. 8-Feb. 8.
•    Wednesday's game at Boston U. is the third road game in 11 days for the Mids.
•     Navy will travel the second-most one-way miles for weekday regular season games this season during the Patriot League campaign.
•    Conversely, the Mids will travel the third fewest one-way miles for weekend league games.

DeChellis Ranks Third at Navy for Career Wins
•    Navy's Jan. 2 win over American moved Ed DeChellis into third place for the most wins as a Navy head coach.  He has now won 189 games at Navy.
•    He also is nearing the Navy record for the most games as a Navy head coach.  Wednesday's game will be his 416th on the Navy sideline, placing him one away from tying Ben Carnevale's record of 417.

Navy Good Again on the Offensive Boards 
•    Navy has been very good over the last number of years at winning the offensive rebound margin.
•    The Mids ranked first in the Patriot League and 40th nationally during the 2023-24 season with an average of 12.45 offensive rebounds per game.
•    Navy stands first in the league and 115th nationally with an average of 11.58 offensive boards a game this year.
•    Aidan Kehoe (3.70 OR/G, 1st PL, 11th NCAA) and Donovan Draper (2.26 OR/G, 4th PL) rank among the league leaders in offensive rebounds.

Second-Chance Points 
•    Navy has regularly turned those second-chance opportunities into points. 
•    The Mids have scored at least 10 second-chance points in seven of the last nine games, have totaled 91 points in this span and are averaging 10.1 points per game.  Navy's foes have totaled 51 second-chance points (5.7 ppg) in this time.

Five Mids with 20 Points
•    Carnegie Johnson became the fifth Mid to score at least 20 points in a game this season when he scored a career-high 21 points Feb. 1 vs. Bucknell.
•    The high for different Mids to score at least 20 points in a game during the Patriot League era is seven.

Benigni's 10+ Point Scoring Streaks
•    Austin Benigni saw his streak of games with scoring in double figures come to an end when he scored eight points in 18 minutes of playing time Nov. 25 against Washington (Md.).  
•    His run of 26 games is tied for fifth place for the longest streak of scoring in double figures in school history.
•    Benigni has scored in double figures in seven-straight games and in 13 of the last 14 games.  The only outlier in this span was a nine-point game at Holy Cross.

At the FT Line – Austin Benigni / 2024-25
•    Benigni ranks first in the Patriot League and sixth in the NCAA for free throws made (133).
•    He ranks second in the league and 18th nationally in free throws attempted (154). 
•    He also ranks second in the league and 66th nationally with a free throw percentage of 86.4 percent.
•    Benigni ranks third at Navy during the Patriot League era (1991-92 to present) and 17th in program history for the highest career free throw attempts per game average with 416 attempts in 85 games (4.89 fta/g).

Benigni Leading in Points and Assists
•     Austin Benigni typically has led the Mids in either points or assists –– and occasionally both –– in a game since the start of the 2023-24 season.
•     Benigni is on pace to become the third Mid to lead the team in total points and assists in multiple seasons since assists began being tracked with the 1972-73 season.
•     Benigni is closing in on becoming the eighth Mid with 1,000 points and 300 assists in a career.

Kehoe's Double-Double Run 
•    Kehoe is tied for first in the Patriot League and is tied for 28th in the NCAA with eight double-doubles this year.
•    He has missed a double-double by one rebound in three additional games.
•    With six double-doubles in league games, Kehoe is one away from trying the Navy record for the most by a Mid in a single Patriot League regular season.

Kehoe Lately 
•    Aidan Kehoe moved into the regular rotation during Navy's Feb. 21, 2024, game at Loyola and made his first start in the next game against Holy Cross.
•    He had totaled 26 points (1.0 ppg) and 40 rebounds (1.5 rpg) in 26 career games prior to taking to the floor against the Greyhounds.
•    Since then, he has totaled 287 points (9.9 ppg) and 265 rebounds (9.1 rpg). 

Pennick Lately
•    Jordan Pennick had appeared in 16 games prior to Navy's Feb. 17, 2024, game at Boston U., and totaled 26 points (1.6 ppg) and 18 rebounds (1.1 rpg).
•    Since then, he has scored 260 points (8.7 ppg), made 49 three-point baskets (1.63 fgm/g) and grabbed 102 rebounds (3.4 rpg).
