PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Navy's Josh Koderhandt and Danny Wask capped off the 2024-25 season by earning All-America honors in their respective weight classes at the 94th NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship Saturday at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa.

Navy as a team finished in 21st place with 20 points, its highest placement since 2016 when the team finished 22nd with 21 points.

141 / Consolation Semifinals / 2) Beau Bartlett (Penn State) def. 4) Josh Koderhandt, 11-6 Sudden Victory

Bartlett, the 2024 NCAA runner-up and now a three-time All-American, dropped a heartbreaking 2-1 match in the first tiebreaker period to third-seeded Jesse Mendez (Ohio State) in the semifinals on Friday night.  That loss set up a top-four bout against Koderhandt in the consolation semifinals.

Bartlett struck first with a takedown 53 seconds into the opening stanza. Koderhandt scored a point with a quick escape to make the score 3-1.  The Belleville, Ill., native took a 4-3 lead with a takedown of his own with 43 seconds remaining in the first period.  A Bartlett escape tied the match at 4-4 going into the second period.

A Koderhandt escape in the second period made the score 5-4.  That score remained until a Bartlett reversal in the third period gave him a 6-5 advantage.  Koderhandt added a match-tying sixth point on an escape to send the match into a sudden victory period.

Bartlett executed a takedown 50 seconds into the first overtime period and added two nearfall points for the victory.

141 / Fifth Place / 5) Cael Happel (Northern Iowa) def. 4) Josh Koderhandt, 7-2 Decision

Koderhandt and Northern Iowa's Cael Happel originally met in the quarterfinals on Friday night in a thrilling match that went into a tiebreaker period before Happel won, 2-1.

In Saturday morning's bout for fifth place, Happel worked a takedown 1:09 into the first period but Koderhandt allowed no riding time as he quickly escaped seven seconds later to make the score 3-1 going into the middle stanza.  A Happel escape (4-1) was the only scoring through the remainder of the second period. Koderhandt chose to begin the third period in the bottom position and earned an escape point to draw within two (4-2). A Happel takedown late in the period proved to be the dagger to end the match, 7-2.

Koderhandt capped off an illustrious career with 106 career victories which ties him for 13th place for the most in program history.   He also became the second Mid to earn All-America accolades at 141 pounds as he joined Mark Conley who earned the honors in 2001 and '02.

Additionally, his 31-career victories by fall ties him with Pete Blair (1951-'55') for sixth place in Navy history.

174 / Seventh Place / 14) Matthew Singleton (NC State) def. 7) Danny Wask, 3-1 Decision

After a dropping a 15-3 major decision to the third-seeded Dean Hamiti of Oklahoma State in the second round of the championship, Singleton wrestled his way back to earn All-America status by winning three consolation matches before he met Wask in the seventh-place match.

Neither wrestler scored a point in the opening three minutes. Singleton posted the first point of the bout from an escape with 16 seconds remaining in the second period. In the final period, Singleton extended his lead over Wask with two nearfall points. Wask was able to escape the grasp for his first point of the match with 20 seconds remaining but fell, 3-1.
