ANNAPOLIS, Md. – For the eighth time in 11 years, No. 21 Navy (14-5) will take on No. 15 Loyola (13-5) in the Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Championship Game, presented by Credit Union 1. The opening draw has been moved up to 12:00 p.m. at Ridley Athletic Complex due to the potential thunderstorms in the Baltimore area.
Saturday's game will still air on CBS Sports Network, with coverage beginning from the opening whistle at 2:30 p.m. Jason Knapp will call play-by-play, with Rachael DeCecco providing analysis. Paige Messier will report from the sideline.
The game will be aired live on the radio on 1430 AM WNAV with Joe Miller on the call beginning at noon. The radio broadcast is also available on

Patriot League Tournament
The championship game features two of the Patriot League's top teams historically. Navy and Loyola have combined to win the last 14 Patriot League Tournament Championships. The Mids have won six championships in that span, while the Greyhounds have won eight titles, including the last five championships that were held. (NOTE: No tournament in 2020 due to corona virus pandemic)
The Midshipmen have qualified for the conference tournament each season since joining the Patriot League in 2008, making their 17th appearance in the Patriot League Tournament in 2025. The Mids are 23-10 (.697) overall in the conference tournament, including a 13-3 (.813) mark in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals, winning eight of its last nine appearances in the semis.
The Midshipmen are 10-7 (.588) all-time in the Patriot League Tournament at the Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore, including a pair of victories over the Greyhounds.
All-Patriot League
Six members of the Navy women's lacrosse team were named to the 2025 All-Patriot League Team announced Monday, April 28 by the conference office. The Midshipmen tallied four first-team selections –
Alyssa Chung (attack),
Emily Messinese (attack),
Mikayla Williams (midfield), and
Alyssa Daley (defense) – while also claiming a pair of second-team honors –
Tori DiCarlo (attack) and
Ava Yovino (midfield). Additionally, Chung was selected as the Patriot League Rookie of the Year.
It is the fourth consecutive season that Navy has had four first-team all-conference selections, while Chung becomes the second consecutive Midshipmen to earn Rookie of the Year accolades and the fourth in program history, joining Loren Generi ('15) in 2012, Kelly Larkin ('20) in 2017, and Williams last season.
Overall, 34 student-athletes made the two All-Patriot League squads, with 18 claiming first-team accolades and another 16 receiving a spot on the second team.
All 10 Patriot League teams were represented on the all-conference list. Loyola placed a League-high seven athletes on the two teams, including five first-team honorees. Navy finished second with six selections, including four on the first team. Army had five players recognized, with three first-team selections. Colgate and Holy Cross had four selections apiece, with Boston University, Bucknell and Lehigh earning two spots on the two teams. American and Lafayette both had one representative.
Academic All-Patriot League
A pair of Midshipmen student-athletes were selected to the 2025 Women's Lacrosse Academic All-Patriot League Team on Wednesday, April 30, as announced by the conference office.
Tori DiCarlo led the duo of academic achievers as the 2025 Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year. In addition to DiCarlo's top honor,
Grace Peterson was also selected to the 13-member academic squad.
It is the second consecutive Scholar-Athlete of the Year selection for DiCarlo. Last season, she became the first Midshipmen since Mary Ruttum ('10), who earned the honor as a senior in 2010, to claim the League's top academic honor. It is the third time in program history that a Midshipmen has been named Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The Mids have had at least one player selected to the Academic All-Patriot League Team each season since 2011.
All-Time Series
The game marks the 20th meeting between the two teams in women's lacrosse. Loyola holds a 16-3 advantage in the series.
Since joining the Patriot League for the 2014 season, Loyola is 112-3 (.974) against Patriot League opponents including an unblemished 93-0 record in regular-season conference contests. Navy is the
ONLY Patriot League school to defeat Loyola, besting the Greyhounds in the conference tournament twice (2017, '18) and NCAA Tournament once (2018). All three victories for Navy occurred at Loyola.
The Greyhounds are currently on a 61-game winning streak against Patriot League opponents including both regular season and postseason games.
The Midshipmen picked up a win over Loyola in the 2017 PL Championship (W, 15-5), snapping the Greyhounds' then 41-game winning streak against conference opponents.
The Mids followed the 2017 PL Championship win with a second consecutive conference title win in 2018 (W, 17-10), while also defeating the Greyhounds in the second round of the NCAA Tournament (W, 19-15) the same year.
The Greyhounds have won the last nine games in the series, including a 20-19 overtime decision in Annapolis earlier this season. Last year, the two teams met in the conference championship with Loyola earning a 12-11 overtime victory in Baltimore.

Cindy Timchal. Under Timchal's direction, Adams and the Terrapins went 83-4 (.954) in four seasons with two perfect seasons and four National Championships. Adams was the first recipient of the Tewaaraton Trophy in 2001.
Scouting the Midshipmen
Navy posted an 18-9 victory over No. 19 Army on Thursday night at the Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore, Md. in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament to advance to the conference championship to face top-seeded and 15th-ranked Loyola (13-5) on Saturday. With the win, the Midshipmen improved to 14-5 overall.
As a team, the Midshipmen have tallied 306 goals with 128 assists, while picking up 306 ground balls, winning 348 draw controls, and causing 146 turnovers.
Entering the weekend,
Alyssa Chung and
Emily Messinese lead the team with 74 and 67 points, respectively. Chung has a team-high 60 goals with 14 assists, while Messinese has 43 goals and a team-best 24 helpers.
Chung has recorded 15 multi-goal performances in her young career (19 games total), including 13 hat tricks. In Patriot League games, Chung led Navy with 49 points (5.44 per game) on a team-best 39 goals (4.33), while adding 10 assists (1.11). She recorded multiple goals in all nine conference games this season with eight hat tricks. For her efforts, Chung was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week six (6) consecutive times and a conference-record seven times total, while ultimately being named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year.
With eight hat tricks this season this season, Messinese has 32 career hat tricks (62 games played), which is seventh-most in program history. In total, Messinese has scored at least one goal in 59 games (.952) with multiple scores in 46 games (.742).
Mikayla Williams follows with 60 points. The sophomore is second on the team with 46 goals and 14 assists.
Emma Kennedy and
Tori DiCarlo are fourth and fifth with 50 and 44 points, respectively. Kennedy has 39 goals and 11 assists this season, while DiCarlo has 31 goals and 13 helpers for 44 points to round out Navy's top five scorers.
Taylor Miles,
Ava Yovino,
Maggie DeFabio, and
Lola Leone close out Navy's double-digit scorers. Miles has a balanced 17 goals and 18 helpers for 35 points, while DeFabio and Yovino are tied with 31 points apiece. Yovino has 17 goals to go along with 14 assists with DeFabio notching 20 goals and 11 assists. Leone, who recorded her 100th career goal in the Patriot League Semifinal, adds 12 points on 10 goals and a pair of assists.
Eleven (11) additional Midshipmen have registered points during the season.
Maura Murphy and
Kat McAteer have five points apiece. Murphy has five points on five scores, while McAteer has five points on four goals and an assist.
Caroline Gage and
Anna Gotterup have four points each with Gage netting four goals and Gotterup chipping in three goals and an assist.
Chloe Brown and
Bella Paradiso follow with three points each. Brown has three goals for her three points with Paradiso notching a goal and a couple of assists.
Lizzie Kelley and
Natalie O'Neill have a point on a goal scored each, while
Alyssa Daley,
Reagan Hart, and
Grace Peterson close out Navy's point scorers with one point on an assist apiece.
Defensively, Navy has caused 146 of its opponents 268 turnovers (54.5 percent), including 71 unsuccessful clear attempts. DeFabio and
Jaclyn Johns are tied for the team lead 18 caused turnovers apiece. Yovino and
Felicia Giglio follow, having recorded 15 caused turnovers each. Peterson, Chung, and Messinese round out Navy's double-digit caused turnovers, notching 12, 10, and 10 takeaways, respectively.
Giglio leads the team with 42 ground balls with Yovino following with 35 and DeFabio picking up 28. Peterson (23) and Messinese (22) close out Navy's top-five in the category. Williams has 19, while Johns follows with 18 GB. Chung (15), Gage (14),
Jalin Jenkins (14), Miles (12), and
Landen Cain (10) round out the Mids' double-digit ground balls.
Giglio has notched 127 saves in 1045:25 minutes of action in 19 games played. The 127 saves surpassed her season total of 102 from a year ago in the same number of games. The sophomore goalkeeper has six double-digit save performances, including four against ranked opponents.
Emma Richardell has logged 99:30 minutes of action in 11 games with 12 saves and a 57.1 save percentage.
Daley leads the team with a single-season school record 223 draw controls, topping the previous record of 191 she set last season. The senior has 491 career draws and is two back of matching Navy and Patriot League career leader Loren Generi ('15), who finished her Midshipmen career with 493.
Messinese has chipped in 48 draw controls while Williams has won 44 draws.
Scouting the Opposition
Loyola enters the weekend 13-5 overall. The top-seeded Greyhounds defeated Holy Cross, 21-8, in the Patriot League Semifinal on Thursday to advance to the championship.
Loyola is led by Georgia Latch and Chase Boyle. Latch leads the squad with 113 points on 49 goals and a team-best 64 assists, while Boyle is second on the team with 77 points on a team-high 71 goals and six helpers.
Lily Osborne leads Loyola with 26 caused turnovers with Boyle and Mim Suares-Jury following with 18 and 14, respectively. Lauren Spence paces the Greyhounds with 36 ground balls, followed by Osborne (31) and Suares-Jury (24). Boyle has a team high 197 draw controls, while Latch and Osborne follow with 87 and 74 draws.
Spence has logged a majority of minutes between the posts at goal for Loyola. She has 146 saves with 163 goals allowed for a 47.2 save percentage and a 10.04 goals against average. Additionally, she has picked up 38 ground balls and caused 10 turnovers.
Loyola placed a league-high seven players on the two all-conference teams, including five first-team honorees. Latch (attacker), Boyle (midfielder), and Osborne (defender) claimed the major awards at their position with Elisa Faklaris (midfielder) and Spence (goalkeeper) also earning first-team distinction. Suares-Jury (midfielder) and Ellie Rhinehart (defender) rounded out the Greyhounds' All-Patriot League honorees on the second team.
