ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Coming off of its Patriot League Championship victory on Saturday, the Navy women's lacrosse team learned that it would be taking on Clemson in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The Midshipmen will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to take on Tigers, who are making their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament, at Dorrance Field on the campus of the University of North Carolina on Friday, May 9 at 5:00 p.m.
The winner of that game will face the No. 1 overall seed North Carolina on Sunday at noon in the second-round matchup.
Both games will be broadcast on ESPN+.
Navy worked its way through the Patriot League Tournament as the No. 3 seed, defeating Lehigh (W, 19-2) in the quarterfinals and Army (W, 18-9) in the semifinals. In the championship, the Midshipmen rallied from five goals down against top-seeded Loyola to tie the game and force overtime before
Mikayla Williams scored the golden goal to give Navy its seventh Patriot League title in program history and secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
This will be the Mids eighth appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and the first since 2019. Navy advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2010, '11, '12, '13, '17, '18, and '19.
