ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Seventh-year Navy men's lacrosse head coach Joe Amplo announced on Tuesday that rising seniors
Dan Daly (GK / Wayne, N.J.) and
Mac Haley (A / Shady Side, Md.) have been selected by their teammates to serve as team captains for the 2025-26 academic year.
"This was the closest captains vote we've had during my time at the Academy, with several members of our firstie class earning significant support. I'm proud of this group's leadership and development throughout their careers," said Amplo. "Ultimately, two young men emerged as the elected captains of our team.
Dan Daly and
Mac Haley both bring extensive on-field experience and have established themselves as dependable, respected teammates. I look forward to watching them grow in their leadership roles and collaborate with others as captains of the 2026 Navy lacrosse team."
Daly is a three-year letter winner and two-year starter for the Midshipmen between the pipes. After battling incumbent Pat Ryan for the starting job his rookie season, Daly has started each of the last 31 contests as Navy's netminder. He owns a 10.65 goals-against average and a 52.5 save percentage over his 37-career appearances, leading Navy to 18 wins as the Mids' goalkeeper of record. With 378-career saves, Daly will enter his senior campaign ranked 12th on the Mids' all-time saves leader board, less than 50 saves away from entering the top 10. His 378 saves are the most by a Navy goalkeeper since Ryan Kern closed out his career in 2020 with 465 stops.
Daly garnered Second-Team All-Patriot League recognition as a sophomore after posting the Patriot League's top goals-against average (10.69), while also putting together the league's second-best save percentage (53.5). He broke Navy's postseason records for most saves in a Patriot League Tournament game (18 vs. Loyola) and entire tournament (25 vs. Loyola and Lehigh) in 2024. He closed out his first year as the Mids' starting goalkeeper with 191 saves, the sixth most in program history and the most by a Navy goalkeeper since Mickey Jarboe won the Kelly Award in 1999 (215 sv). Daly is one of just two goalkeepers to rank among Navy's top 10 single-season saves list since 2000.
This past spring, Daly produced a 10.44 goals-against average and a 52.5 save percentage after facing nearly 600 shots over the course of the season. He closed out the year with 165 saves, a mark that ties as the 18th most in a Navy single season. He is one of eight players to appear on Navy's single-season saves list twice and is looking to become one of only three to make the list three times (Mickey Jarboe 1997-98-99 / Jeff Johnson 1977-78-79). Despite the Mids dropping a decision to NCAA Semifinalist Penn State in February, Daly was superb in goal where he made a career-high 20 saves. He twice was named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, propelling Navy to victories over High Point and Lafayette (regular season).
Haley, meanwhile, has started 42 of the 44 games in which he has played at Navy, including each of the last 15. A versatile player who has seen action at both attack (2023, 25) and midfield (2024), he will enter his senior campaign just 11 points shy of becoming the 39th player in school history to reach the 100-point mark for their career. He has produced 89 points on 47 goals and 42 assists and has recorded at least one point in each of the last 15 contests. Haley is also on the verge of joining Navy's all-time top-20 assists list, needed just 7 more to tie Greyson Torain (2016-19) for 20th with 49.
The three-year starter closed out his junior year as the Mids' leading scorer with 43 points on 22 goals and a team-high 21 assists. He is just the 13th different Navy player to reach 40 points in a season since 2000, including the third during the Amplo era (2024, 40 by
Xavier Arline / 2022, 48 by Patrick Skalniak). He dealt out assists in 13 of the 15 contests and scored a goal in 11 games. He recorded 3 or more points 10 times in the spring, including each of the last 5 games.
