ANNAPOLIS, Md. --
Mike Woods has been selected to captain the 2025-26 Navy men's basketball team, head coach
Jon Perry announced today.
"Being voted team captain is a testament to the respect Mike has earned from both his teammates and coaching staff," said Perry. "As a rising senior and power forward, he leads with consistent effort, humility and an unselfish commitment to others. Mike plays with pride and passion, models the standard every day and represents everything we want in our team captain. We are excited for Mike and this tremendous opportunity."
Woods appeared in 30 games this season including 16 Patriot League regular season games and each of Navy's three postseason games as the Mids advanced to the championship game of the league tournament for the first time since 2022. The undersized post player averaged 5.3 points and 3.3 rebounds a game during the league campaign as he battled back from an injury that caused him to miss the first two games of the league season. He averaged 9.1 points and 3.6 rebounds a game and shot 64 percent from the field in seven games from Feb. 12-March 1.
The political science major from Upper Marlboro, Md., was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll this spring.
